DO NOT BE A PRIEST TO SOMEONE'S IDOLS
The Levitical priests were commissioned by GOD, separated unto GOD and were allowed to approach GOD according to Numbers 16:5. The Levitical priesthood began with the tribe of Levi and proceeded through the sons of the family of Aaron, according to Num.18:1,8 and Exodus 28:1, which says, "Now take Aaron your brother and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to Me as priest" NKJV Bible. The duties of the Levitical priesthood included:- (1) The teaching of the Law Lev.10:11, (2) Offering the sacrifices, Leviticus chapter 9. (3) Maintaining the Tabernacle and the Temple, Num.18:3. (4) Officiating in the Holy Place, Ex.30:7-10. (5) Inspecting ceremonially unclean persons, Leviticus chapters 13 and 14. (6) They adjudicated disputes, Deut.17:8-13. (7) They functioned as tax collectors, Num.18:21,26; Heb.7:5. In a nut-shell a priest is to be in a position of spiritual leadership, one who is call upon to direct himself and others, in the proper service of GOD. A priest must therefore be holy to his GOD for he presents offering to GOD, "He shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself. They shall be holy unto their GOD and not profane the name of their GOD........therefore they shall be holy" Lev.21:4 and 6 KJV Bible.
Nevertheless during the days of Judges, where GOD was taken for granted by the children of Israel, Micah made a graven image and took a Levite whose duty was to serve in the LORD’S Tabernacle and he made this Levite a priest over his idols; Judges 17:10-13. The bible says, "And Micah consecrated the Levite and the young man became his priest and was in the house of Micah". Judges 17:12 AMP. Bible. A priest of GOD accepted to serve idols, because of lust of wealth, money and prosperity. The bible says, "And Micah said to him, dwell with me and be to me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten pieces of silver each year, a suit of clothes and your living. So the Levite went in" Judges 17:10, AMP Bible. The priest abandon the duty of serving GOD because of money.
Therefore this morning JESUS is telling HIS beloved priest, HIS servants in the vineyard, His children, etc. that we should not be a priest to anybody’s idol in the name of church empire, Prosperity and wealth idols, we should not be a priest of anybody’s pride and arrogant idols, we should not be a priest of anybody’s sexual lust and immorality idols, a priest to anybody’s lies and manipulation idols, don't be a priest to anybody's idol says JESUS because of money, etc. because; "But you are not like that, for you have been chosen by GOD Himself; you are priests of the King, you are holy and pure, you are GOD'S very own, all this so that you may show to others how GOD called you out of the darkness into HIS wonderful light" 1 Peter 2:9, The Living Bible. So we should be very careful with our priesthood as servants of GOD, we should be careful which type of church we attend, because me might be attending a church that is serving idols instead of GOD. We are priests and we carry the virtues and perfections of JESUS CHRIST, therefore, "Come out from them and be separate, says the LORD. Touch no unclean thing and I will receive you. For I Am the LORD your GOD; so consecrate yourselves and be holy, for I am holy; neither defile yourselves with any manner of thing that multiplies in large numbers or swarms" Says the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY; 2 Cor.6:17 NIV Bible; Lev.11:44, AMP Bible. Let us therefore repent in anyway we have made ourselves priest to other people's idols and returned to the LORD, the MESSIAH is coming and we have to prepare the way for HIM in complete holiness and righteousness.
