Anglican Church of St Thomas à Becket

Anglican Church of St Thomas à Becket The Anglican Church of St Thomas à Becket Church is part of the Diocese in Europe of the Church of England. We offer worship in English, for all nationalities.

Our main service is Holy Communion on Sundays at 10:30 am. The Anglican Church of St Thomas Becket

The parish has existed since 1612, the Anglican church being one of the first non-Lutheran churches to be permitted to establish itself in Hamburg as a concession to the Merchant Adventurers - the English traders guild in the City. The present church building, neo-classical in style, has existed si

nce 1838. We are named after the famous Archbishop of Canterbury Saint Thomas Becket, a martyr of the 12th century. Today the church has some 80 regular worshippers of all ages and many nationalities. Services are held every Sunday at 10.30am. People of all nationalities and walks of life are welcome to our services and other activities. Even if you can't come to church, or have had no previous contact with a church, do be encouraged to get in touch. You might find this a good starting point to get to know people in Hamburg, many in the congregation have also had the experience of being newcomers to the City. Children (4-11) are especially welcome to attend Junior Church (Sunday School) which meets at 10.30am on Sundays. The church is located in the centre of Hamburg close to the Lutheran Hauptkirche St. Michaelis and is easy to reach by public transport. Please consult these web pages for further information and take a look at the House Journal "Becket News" to get an insight into things that are going on.

Thy Kingdom Come 2026 is inviting Christians around the world to gather in prayer, from Ascension to Pentecost, for more people to come to faith in Jesus Christ. 💡🙏

As we reflect on this year’s theme, God with Us, these 11 days are an opportunity to seek God’s presence, power and love for those we long to see transformed by Him.

What we see here is a statement of faith. A statement of confidence. A statement of complete trust. ⭐

In what ways does trusting God as the light in your life help?

Over the next few days, Muthuraj Swamy, Director of the Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide, will be exploring how Christ the Morning Star brings us hope.

Purple is the traditional colour of Advent, signifying repentance and waiting, as well as royalty, as we get ready to celebrate the coming of Jesus.

The Advent Wreath, or Advent Crown, can be found in churches and cathedrals throughout the Advent and Christmas season.
