Is your spinner running above the fish? Take it down another level. 🎣

Adding a Cheburashka weight in front of the spinner allows you to target deeper sections of the water column. The lure sinks faster, remains easier to control in current and gains valuable casting distance.

Maik managed to catch a beautiful Norwegian brown trout with the EFFZETT Slim Standard Spoon right at the beginning of the rock bank – exactly the kind of spot where wild trout often wait for passing prey.

When targeting wild trout, this spoon really plays to its strengths. Its slim profile allows accurate casts, a controlled sink and a seductive action, even in moving water. Why do so many predator anglers prefer a baitcaster when fishing topwater lures? 🎣💥

The key difference becomes clear during the cast. A baitcaster’s spool rotates as the line leaves the reel and can be controlled with your thumb throughout the cast. This allows you to slow the lure down, stop it just before the target and place poppers or stickbaits accurately along w**d edges, lily pads and overhanging cover.

The DAM Quick Intenze Baitcaster supports this control with an adjustable magnetic braking system. Its compact low-profile body sits comfortably in the hand, while the 6.5:1 gear ratio retrieves around 71 cm of line per handle turn – useful for quickly picking up slack after a twitch or reacting to a sudden surface strike.

Short, sharp rod movements make a popper splash and push water before you let it pause. A stickbait requires rhythmic twitches and a small amount of slack to create its side-to-side “walk-the-dog” action. Maik’s tuning tip: Add a small twister to the treble hook of your spinner.

The rotating blade attracts attention with flash and pressure waves, while the soft twister tail adds lively movement and a larger silhouette. That extra trigger can be especially effective in stained water or when predators are following cautiously.

This simple modification combines two different types of attraction in one lure:
