Psychic Literacy brings together works in ceramics, installation, and painting that straddle the lines between science fiction, architectural models, and speculative artifacts. Organic forms encounter technical structures, and futuristic towers appear as relics of unknown civilizations. The works move between machine and monument, between memory and premonition.
The term psychic literacy describes the ability to read invisible structures: emotional energies, collective memories, or forms of intuitive communication. The exhibition envisions possible realities in which sensitivity and technology are not contradictory but rather merge. It points to dimensions, life forms, and systems that might follow different physical or social laws.
The works combine raw materiality with futuristic aesthetics. Traces of handcraft meet precise, almost industrial forms. As a result, the objects appear both archaic and alien – like found objects from realities that could exist parallel to our own.
Originally from Bucaramanga, Colombia, Santiago Alvarez is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice interweaves studies in architecture and film to explore the relationship between individuals and the spaces they inhabit. His work examines the social, political, and symbolic dimensions of cultural actions, approaching them primarily through visual language and documentary formats. In parallel, he develops ongoing research into ceramics as an ancestral practice, undertaking annual residencies with masters in the Amazon region through initiatives he undertakes from his cultural space, Casa Muyska. He exhibited his works in Colombia, Germany, Puerto Rico, USA, Switzerland and Italy.
