How can we engage in public life as followers of Christ with wisdom, integrity, and hope?

Our new resource, "European Evangelicals in Public Life", offers a concise biblical and practical framework for understanding our calling to contribute to society, promote the common good, and engage respectfully with those around us.

We believe that our faith is not confined to Sunday—it shapes how we serve our neighbours, participate in public debate, and seek justice and peace across Europe.

📖 Read the resource, reflect on it with your church or network, and share it with others who are passionate about faithful public engagement.

Urgent Call to Prayer for South Africa

As followers of Christ across Europe, we stand together with our brothers and sisters in South Africa during this critical moment.

Violence, fear, displacement, and deep social tensions are affecting both South African communities and vulnerable migrants. We join the Association of Evangelicals in Africa and the Evangelical Alliance of South Africa in calling the global Church to pray for peace, justice, wisdom, and reconciliation.

Let us pray that every person—citizen and foreigner alike—will be treated with dignity, that leaders will act wisely, that violence will be prevented, and that the Church will be a courageous witness to the Gospel of peace.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."
(Matthew 5:9)

🙏 Please join us in prayer, share this call with your church and networks, and stand together with the body of Christ across Africa.

EEA Call to Prayer for Venezuela

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ."
Galatians 6:2

Dear EEA family, dear friends, dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

The European Evangelical Alliance invites the evangelical family across Europe to unite in prayer for the people of Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes that have struck the country, claiming many lives, injuring thousands, and leaving countless families grieving, displaced, and uncertain about the future. Rescue operations continue while many remain missing and entire communities face enormous hardship.

In moments such as these, we are reminded that the Church of Jesus Christ is one body across all nations.

"If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it."
1 Corinthians 12:26

As followers of Christ, we are called not only to pray but also to stand in practical solidarity with those who suffer. Across Venezuela, local churches are opening their doors, caring for displaced families, comforting the grieving, and serving their communities with the love of Christ despite experiencing the disaster themselves.

Let us therefore come together before our Heavenly Father.

Please pray:
• For those who mourn — that God, the Father of compassion, would comfort every family that has lost loved ones.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18)
• For those still trapped, missing, or awaiting rescue — that they may be found quickly and safely, and that rescue workers would have wisdom, strength, and protection.
• For the injured — that they would receive the medical care they need and experience healing in body, mind, and spirit.
• For local churches and Christian ministries — that they would be empowered by the Holy Spirit to be places of refuge, hope, practical assistance, and faithful witness during this crisis.
• For government authorities, emergency responders, medical personnel, and humanitarian organisations — that they would work together effectively, wisely, and with integrity for the good of all.
• For children and vulnerable people — that they would be protected from exploitation, trauma, and despair, and would find safety and loving care.
• For unity and peace — that, even amid suffering, communities would stand together, divisions would give way to compassion, and hope would overcome fear.
• For long-term recovery — that homes, schools, churches, livelihoods, and infrastructure may be rebuilt, and that the people of Venezuela would know renewed hope for the future.

Standing Together as One Body

Our Lord reminds us:

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
Psalm 46:1

At the European Evangelical Alliance, we believe that prayer changes circumstances, strengthens those who suffer, and reminds us that no nation stands alone. We encourage churches, prayer groups, families, and individuals throughout Europe to remember Venezuela in worship services, prayer meetings, and personal devotions during the coming days.

May our prayers be accompanied by generous hearts, practical compassion, and continued partnership with churches and Christian organisations serving on the ground.

Together, let us bear one another's burdens, trusting that Christ remains the hope of the nations.

In the love and peace of Christ,
Connie Main Duarte and Jan Wessels

Migration is one of the defining challenges of our time, and we believe it must be approached with both justice and mercy.

In our new statement on the EU Return Regulation, we recognise the legitimate responsibility of governments to manage migration, secure borders, and combat human trafficking. At the same time, we raise concerns about longer detention periods, the use of return hubs outside the EU, and reduced safeguards for vulnerable people, including converts, trafficking victims, and asylum seekers.

Every migrant, returnee, and asylum seeker is a person made in the image of God. We believe security and compassion are not competing values — Europe can and must uphold both.

📖 Read our full statement and join us in reflecting on how migration policies can combine responsibility, human dignity, and care for the vulnerable.

If you do not stand firm in your faith, you shall not stand at all. Isaiah 7:9 (NIV)
The Lord himself will give you a sign - Immanuel, God with us. Isaiah 7:14 (NIV/ESV)
Behold, I am making all things new. Revelation 21:5 (ESV) (Word of the Year 2026)

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory. Isaiah 6:3 (NIV)
For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Isaiah 11:9 (NIV)
May it happen in Europe.

God of history, let Europe stand firm in its Judeo-Christian roots, heritage and values.
Let all ideologies of the “right” and of the “left” be submitted to you, the Sovereign God, Creator of all Earth.

Give the Ukrainian people space and shelter during this Winter, mighty God, Prince of Peace.
Come with your judgement to all who threaten their security and welfare. Awaken the conscience of the people in Russia and give courage to the masses in this nation.

Awaken the young generation in Europe,
To seek their roots and destiny in you, Jesus Christ, Immanuel.
We pray for us, the peoples of Europe, in all our diversity.
May we listen to and dignify each other. May we not fear or rely on other worldly powers, from east or west, but fear and rely only on you, God, the Most High.

Father God, we rejoice that your Kingdom has come and we live by your eternal promise that you will make all things new in Heaven and on Earth on the day of your Fulfilment.

Keep our faith strong, unite us in love and keep us looking forward for your return. In Jesus’ mighty name.
Amen.
