Take and Read: Selected Reflections on Sunday Readings

This collection of reflections written by Fr. William is a wonderful guide to this year's Sunday Mass Readings.

Weekly, you can sit with the Scripture readings and enjoy, in essence, a conversation with Fr. William (always with some history thrown in there) to bring you into better preparation and deeper understanding of the heart of the Word of God.

Each Sunday's reflection begins with the Mass Readings as well so it's very much like having an issue of the Magnificat or a book like Peter Kreeft's "Food for the Soul" series--the big difference is that the author of these reflections is our own pastor and the book itself was compiled and edited by parishioners at St. Thomas.

Available on Amazon, this book is a special addition to your home library.

Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ this Sunday at 11 a.m.

Flowers needed! Please help!
It is a tradition at St. Thomas that the youth of our whole parish toss flower petals ahead of the Blessed Sacrament during the Eucharistic Procession. We collect petals from parishioners and are grateful for the support!

If you would like to bring flower petals for the kids, please bring them to the Cloister Walkway before Mass from 10:30 a.m. You'll see a group prepping bags. Thank you!

"The Church teaches that catechesis requires "presentation of salvation history by means of biblical catechesis so as to make known the 'deeds amd words' with which God has revealed Himself to man: the great stages of the Old Testament by which He prepared the journey of the Gospel; the life of Jesus, Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary who by His actions and teaching brought Revelation to completion; the history of the Church which transmits Revelation.""

Sursum corda! ❤️
What a gift to walk with these four children this year in preparation for receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. It is our prayer for them that having now received the gift of Jesus' Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist that they will be strengthened, nourished and called to share the light of Christ with the world!

"Veni, Sancte Spiritus"
Our catechetical Pentecost play is becoming a sort of tradition with parents, friends, children and Augustinians playing a part in bringing Scripture to life.

Last Sunday, we gathered our youth community for the play in the garden and were then invited by the Augustinians to perform this liturgical vignette before the 11 a.m. Mass began.

What timing as Pope Leo's encyclical, "Magnifica humanitas", was just released highlighting the error on focusing our eyes and hearts on a new Tower of Babel as we told the sinful nature of the tower and its ultimate destruction in ancient times.

The message of Pentecost is powerful and should fill all of hearts with the power, love and drive to proclaim the Gospel with our lives!

A very special thank you to our photo contributors!

"The power of the Holy Spirit is upon us!"

A scene from this Sunday's Pentecost liturgical vignette, "Veni, Sancte Spiritus". What joy to be reminded of this power of God and how we are called to proclaim the Gospel!

"Tolle, lege."
Take and read.
