Nezapomenutelný rok s dobrovolnicí
5. 2. 2017 vstoupila nejen do DCHOO, ale i našich srdcí italská dobrovolnice Alba a právě v těchto dnech se s celou organizací loučí a vrací se do své sardinské domoviny.
Alba se během celého roku věnovala dětem a mládeži v Nízkoprahových zařízeních v Ostravě – Muglinově a Ostravě – Kunčičkách. Mimo jiné se Alba více než půl roku zabývala mini projektem, při kterém vyučovala romské ženy a děti anglickému jazyku ve vyloučené lokalitě Ostravě – Kunčičkách. Její pobyt završil „Open Space“ dne 30. 1. 2018, kde se Alba rozloučila se svými spolupracovníky, klienty, dětmi, přáteli a ostatními hosty v prostorách střediska sociální integrace Horizont.
Na toto rozloučení Alba pro všechny hosty připravila ochutnávku italského jídla, např. pizza, tiramisu, pasta prima vera – tradiční italské těstoviny aj. Dále měla Alba připravenou prezentaci formou videa z různých fotografií, kvíz pro děti a hru bingo.
Tohoto příjemného odpoledne se účastnilo přibližně 60 osob z řad dětí, pracovníků, zástupců Eurocentra a seniorů z komunitního centra Gabriel, které Alba během svého působení v DCHOO navštívila.
Alba je velmi energická, optimistická a usměvavá slečna a věříme, že ve svém dalším působení bude lidem přinášet radost stejně, jako ji přinášela nám. Děkujeme Albě za nezapomenutelný rok s námi.

Unforgettable year with the volunteer

On 5th February 2017 the Italian volunteer Alba came not only in to our organisation but also to our hearts. Last week she was saying goodbye to all of us and she returned to her Sardinian homeland.

During the whole year Alba worked with children and youth in low-threshold facility in Ostrava- Muglinov and Ostrava- Kunčičky. Besides other things Alba was working half a year on her own miniproject during which she taught Roma women and children English language in excluded area of Ostrava - Kunčičky. Her stay in CZ was finished by Open Space which took place on 30th January 2018, where Alba said goodbye to co-workers, clients, children, friends and other guests of the event in the place of Social integration centre Horizont.

For the event Alba prepared tasting of Italian meal for example pizza, tiramisu, pasta prima vera- traditional Italian pasta etc. Our volunteer had also prepared video from various photographs, quiz and bingo.
Around 60 people such as children, workers, representatives of Eurocenter and seniors from Community center Gabriel participated in this pleasant afternoon. Alba is very energetic, optimistic and smiling woman and we believe that in her future job she will bring joy to people as well as she brought it to us. We would like to thank Alba for unforgettable year with us.

Build the language: this week we spoke about Emotions😃😡☹️😮, we created a big paper with name in English/Czech
Horizont. Two weeks ago for revising English and for helping me with Czech we made a game: in turn we asked some questions in both language and we write the conversation.

Two weeks in Ukraine (Julien)

Going in Ukraine in the frame of the humanitarian aid Service of Charita was an incredible chance. Early July I have been told that I have the possibility to go in Ukraine for a two-weeks english Summer Camp in the village of Novoselytsya in the south-west Ukraine, close to the Romanian Border. For me it was an very exciting moment, because for the first time in my life I could use my passport, it was my first time outside of the schengen zone. The journey to Ukraine begins Monday the 14th of August. The journey lasted approximately 12 hours crossing Slovakia. The expectations at the borders were not as long as we expected. Passing the slovakian borders and you arrive in completely different world. Ukraine is what I can say one eastern country, completely different from where I come from, France. We finally arrived in Novoselytsya , where we were joyfully welcome by Father Ivan and his family at the youth center where we were going to spend our two-weeks.
Then, the day after we started our summer camp. I truly was stressed by the situation. I did not know, at that time if I was up to the task. But I guess everything came naturally. Let’s get to the fact. The first day around 9 (Kiev’s Time) the children arrived. They were at the beginning very shy, but as they see that Irena (the other girl with whom I worked) and I were smiling and funny they started to be more confident. Children were from different ages, from 6 to 14.
So, in order to makes thing right, we started with the basics by an introduction english game so that the children could understand that English Camp will not be like school but something very interesting, helpful and most of all FUNNY. BAsically our summer camp was mostly based on educational game which allowed children to learn by having fun. Everyday was a different themes in order to not annoy them. The camp was from 9 in the morning until 15 in the afternoon which was very good timing because children were not tiring to come the day after. We had a trip with the children to one lake equipped for children with toboggans, playgrounds etc. That was an amazing time there and the weather was incredibly nice with us . Even if it was a trip we don’t forget the aim that was to speak or interact in English. So we made a lot of game in English like for example a relay when you have to say something in English to someone in order to pass the relay to someone else.
Those two weeks were also interesting insofar as was not us, the adult who taught the children but also the opposite. We made this possible thanks to workshops. We asked them to explain us the history and traditions in Ukraine but in English. That worked first like a brainstorming, they wrote on a paper everything that came from their mind and thanks to our helped they presented it to us. That was really powerful time because we exchange a lot and we knew more about beautiful Ukraine.
But the time there was not only in the summer camp. We were also free in the afternoons and week-end.Generally in the afternoon I spend my time in the youth center with the family of Father Ivan and specially the children who tried to teach me Ukrainian, which was not so difficult because when you have the basics in czech for some reasons it becomes easier than expected. Some afternoon I spend my time in the football field, playing any sort of game with the children of the locality. That was incredible moment that I will never forget. Also during the free time we discovered more Ukraine. We went for example to Tiatchiv, the border town with Romania. We also went with Father Ivan to a night Market in Kolomya, where we could see artisanal and traditional clothes and products of Ukraine. I got there my Vyshyvanka, thanks Father Ivan for this lovely gift. Besides all of this, one thing I loved most there, was the food. The Ukrainian food is so diverse and tasty that I only can recommend it to anyone.
In short these two weeks were rewarding and powerful. I enjoyed each and every single in this new country so different than mine. I will, for sure, go back again in Ukraine. I wanna thank all the person who makes this opportunity a reality : Veronika Mechová, Father Ivan and his familly, Michaela Plešková and Irena.
