Paul’s gratitude for the church in 2 Thessalonians 1:3-4 is not general or distant. He js not thinking of an anonymous crowd, but of specific people, their names, faces, and probably their stories of faith. He sees their growth, their love, and their perseverance in the midst of tribulation, and he speaks of them with joy, even bragging about them to other churches.
Perhaps, one of the greatest challenge we face today is how to give thanks with devotion and commitment.
How can the kind of gratitude that Paul felt in every prayer be awakened? What does it look like and how can this attitude of gratitude for the church and heart for people be delveloped?
