A message from Kayla Ginter – delegate to the 2026 Young Women’s Leadership Institute in Thailand.
This November, the World Day of Prayer International Committee will host the 2026 Young Women’s Leadership Institute in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Out of 200 global applicants, I was selected as one of 35 women to participate in this global retreat.
The World Day of Prayer has greatly influenced my personal growth as well as my family’s spiritual journey, shaping our faith through our shared participation in the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada and World Day of Prayer initiatives. Receiving the news of my selection for the retreat brought a deep sense of gratitude.
My faith has shaped my approach to both leadership and global stewardship. As a lifelong Christian, I have found my purpose in honouring God's creation by participating in environmental and social justice initiatives, caring for the planet, and serving the church. I have served as a worship leader, led children's Bible camps, and guided youth events. Through these experiences, I have learned that our spiritual conviction is inseparable from how we care for one another and protect the world we share. At the heart of my leadership is the belief that personal transformation calls us into "Informed Prayer, Prayerful Action" to support communities that have been marginalized or overlooked.
As I prepare for this journey, the international committee has asked the participants to reflect on the future of the movement. I would value your perspective on these same questions:

The office has planted a mango tree in celebration of 100 years in 2027. Mothers pls plant any tree at home or school or church, any place where the future generations will know about it and nurture it. Pls send pictures once the trees have grown. The sooner the trees are planted, the more chances to have pictures. Mothers can also buy small trees at a plant nursery.

WDP Italy (GMP Italia) met this month for a successful writing workshop for the 2029 World Day of Prayer. Their theme is "Compassion Brings Healing," based on Luke 13:10-17, with a focus on violations of human dignity and the need for healing of people and communities. Around 30 women from Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox traditions gathered for this workshop at the Centro Ecumene near Rome. We give thanks to God for this group for their dedication and commitment to writing the materials for the 2029 World Day of Prayer!

This program is an investment in the future of WDP, creating a pathway for young women to grow their leadership and become deeply rooted in this global movement for justice and peace. All costs for Young Women Stewards - including international airfare, accommodations, and meals - are covered in full.

The commitment and expectations of the Young Women Stewards are: Complete 4 pre-meeting training sessions via Zoom prior to arriving in Accra / Arrive early — on Friday, June 18, 2027, three days before the meeting begins / Serve assigned volunteer shifts throughout the International Meeting. Young Women Stewards will participate in all events.
