Το Ποιμαντικό Συμβούλιο Γυναικών Κύπρου εκφράζει τα θερμά του συγχαρητήρια προς τον νεοεκλεγέντα εκπρόσωπο της μαρωνιτικής κοινότητας στη Βουλή των Αντιπροσώπων της Κύπρου, κ. Πέτρο Νακούζη.

Εκφράζουμε τις ειλικρινείς μας ευχές για μια επιτυχημένη και γόνιμη θητεία. Είθε η πορεία του κοινοβουλευτικού του έργου να χαρακτηρίζεται από σοφία, ακεραιότητα και αφοσίωση στο κοινό καλό, καθώς και ιδιαίτερα στις ανάγκες και τις προσδοκίες ολόκληρης της μαρωνιτικής κοινότητας της Κύπρου.»

The Women’s Pastoral Council of Cyprus sincerely thanks Rita Dagher Mekanna for representing His Excellency Selim Sfeir and the Council at the meeting in Bkerke, Lebanon, with His Beatitude Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi and Professor Mirna Mzawak, during the official announcement of the Church and Cultural Identity Working Paper entitled The Maronite Virtues, A Journey toward Sainthood!

Friday, May 1st 2026 marked the first excursion and pilgrimage organized by the Women Pastoral Council of the Maronite Archbishopric of Cyprus.
In a warm and pleasant atmosphere, women from all the parishes of the Maronite community—Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, as well as from our enclaved villages—participated in a pilgrimage to the Church of the Holy Cross in Pano Lefkara, followed by a lovely walk through the picturesque streets of the village, well known for its traditional Lefkaritika embroidery.
Our sincere thanks to His Excellency the Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus, Selim Sfeir, for his support, spiritual guidance, and presence at the pilgrimage, as well as to the priests Fr. Paul Νicholson, Fr. Youakim Chihane, and Fr. Elias Liatsos for their participation and contribution.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all the women who embraced this initiative with enthusiasm and honored us with their presence.
This is only the beginning, and we look forward to a wonderful continuation, with women playing an active role in the Maronite Church.

Πραγματοποιήθηκε την Παρασκευή 1η Μαΐου 2026 η πρώτη εκδρομή–προσκύνημα που διοργάνωσε το Ποιμαντικό Συμβούλιο Γυναικών της Αρχιεπισκοπής Μαρωνιτών Κύπρου.
Μέσα σε ένα ευχάριστο και ζεστό κλίμα, γυναίκες από όλες τις ενορίες της Μαρωνιτικής κοινότητας – Λευκωσίας, Λεμεσού, Λάρνακας, Πάφου, καθώς και από τα εγκλωβισμένα χωριά μας – συμμετείχαν σε προσκύνημα στην Εκκλησία του Τιμίου Σταυρού στα Πάνω Λεύκαρα, καθώς και σε μια όμορφη περιδιάβαση στα γραφικά σοκάκια του χωριού, γνωστού για τα παραδοσιακά λευκαρίτικα κεντήματα.
Θερμές ευχαριστίες στον Σεβασμιότατο Αρχιεπίσκοπο Μαρωνιτών Κύπρου κ.κ. Σελίμ Σφέιρ για τη στήριξη, την πνευματική καθοδήγηση και την παρουσία του στο προσκύνημα, καθώς και στους ιερείς Πατήρ Πολ Νίκολσον, Πατήρ Ιωακείμ Σιχάν και Πατήρ Ηλία Λιάτσου για τη συμμετοχή και τη συμβολή τους.
Εγκάρδιες ευχαριστίες επίσης σε όλες τις γυναίκες που αγκάλιασαν αυτή την πρωτοβουλία με ενθουσιασμό και μας τίμησαν με την παρουσία τους.

Under the patronage and inspiration of His Excellency Selim Sfeir Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus, the Women’s Pastoral Council of Cyprus organized a wonderful excursion to Lefkara, a UNESCO heritage village. The group visited the church of the Holy Cross, marvelled at the
handicrafts and lace work and enjoyed a delicious lunch together.

The traditional village of Lefkara is known for its handmade Lefkarite embroidery. Nice for us to visit a place so famous for the work Cypriot women put in for years now to keep this tradition alive.

Strengthening Christian values by considering that even such a tiny piece of cloth can be transformed into a work of the Lord through devotion.
