If Judah had only known the plans God had for him if he had understood the eternal implications resting in his future, and that something far more monumental was being prepared for him he would never have participated in selling his brother. He would not have allowed jealousy to consume him to the point of such betrayal.
He, along with his brothers, was intimidated by the dreams of his younger brother, Joseph. He was filled with envy, not realizing that it would be through his own lineage that Jesus Christ, our Messiah, would emerge.
He did not know that his lineage secured a role that transcends temporal authority; it became the eternal channel for salvation. He did not realize that Joseph’s tenure as prime minister would eventually end, becoming merely a chapter in history, while Judah’s name would be etched into eternity because of the Messiah. He did not know that his name would remain relevant until the end of days because of Christ’s connection to his line.
If he had known, he would have acted completely differently.
Do not let the immediate success of others derail you. Keep your focus fixed on your own path. Do not get distracted, and do not allow bitterness to consume you when you see others succeeding when your friends are advancing rapidly.
Your peers may be getting married, starting companies, and finding their footing while you feel behind schedule.
But perhaps you are destined to be the “Judah” of your time.
Your story may be slower in development, but its impact is built to last and echo through generations. You are not behind you are on a different trajectory, one being prepared for eternal impact.
Stay focused. Celebrate the victories of those around you; cheer loudly for their successes. But remain confident in the blueprint God has laid out for your life.
