Νέο Σεφέρ Τορά υποδέχθηκε η εβραϊκή κοινότητα της Λάρνακας
Λάρνακα, Κύπρος 30.8.26 – Η εβραϊκή κοινότητα της Λάρνακας υποδέχθηκε ένα νέο Σεφέρ Τορά σε μια συγκινητική γιορτή που πραγματοποιήθηκε την παραμονή της Ρος Χοντές Ελούλ. Το Σεφέρ Τορά δωρίστηκε από την οικογένεια Lieberman προς τιμήν της τοπικής εβραϊκής κοινότητας και ολόκληρου του εβραϊκού λαού.

Μέλη της κοινότητας συμμετείχαν στη συγγραφή των τελευταίων γραμμάτων στο Εβραϊκό Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο και στη συνέχεια πραγματοποιήθηκε χαρμόσυνη πομπή στους δρόμους της Λάρνακας προς την Κεντρική Συναγωγή, με μουσική, τραγούδι και χορό. Η γιορτή συνεχίστηκε με Χακαφότ και χορούς γύρω από το νέο Σεφέρ Τορά.

Η βραδιά ολοκληρώθηκε με ένα Χασιδικό φαρμπρένγκεν για τον μήνα Ελούλ και τα γενέθλια του Μπάαλ Σεμ Τοβ και του Άλτερ Ρέμπε, με έμφαση στην πνευματική ανάπτυξη, την εβραϊκή ενότητα και την προετοιμασία για το νέο έτος.
Ραβίνοι και απεσταλμένοι της Χαμπάντ από όλη την Κύπρο συμμετείχαν στην εκδήλωση μαζί με μέλη της κοινότητας όλων των ηλικιών.

Ο Αρχιραββίνος Κύπρου, Ραββίνος Arie Zeev Raskin, δήλωσε: «Αυτό είναι ακόμη ένα σημαντικό θεμέλιο για την ενίσχυση του προστατευτικού τείχους του Ιουδαϊσμού και της ενότητας του εβραϊκού λαού».

Το νέο Σεφέρ Τορά θα αποτελέσει αναπόσπαστο μέρος της εβραϊκής ζωής στη Λάρνακα, συνοδεύοντας την κοινότητα στο Σαμπάτ, στις γιορτές και στις σημαντικότερες στιγμές της ζωής της.

What is a Sefer Torah, and why is it so important?

A Sefer Torah is a handwritten scroll containing the Five Books of Moses. It is written by a specially trained scribe, known as a sofer, on parchment using traditional Jewish laws and methods that have been passed down for generations.

The Torah is at the heart of Jewish life. It represents our faith, our history, our values and our connection to G-d and to generations of Jews who came before us.

Every letter in a Sefer Torah has meaning, and every Sefer Torah is treated with the greatest respect. It is read publicly in the synagogue on Shabbat, festivals and other special occasions, bringing the words of the Torah into the centre of communal life.

Welcoming a new Sefer Torah is therefore much more than adding a scroll to a synagogue. It is a celebration of Jewish continuity, identity and unity. It connects children with their heritage, families with their community and one generation with the next.

For the Jewish Community of Cyprus, every new Sefer Torah is a powerful reminder that wherever Jews live, the Torah continues to bring us together.

The Sound of the Shofar

The powerful sound of the shofar fills the Central Synagogue, calling us to pause, reflect and prepare our hearts and souls.

A special moment with Chief Rabbi of Cyprus, Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin, as the shofar is sounded.

May its ancient sound awaken our hearts and remind us of faith, hope, renewal and our connection to G-d.
