HOW DO WORSHIP?

O Lord my Father, teach and align my focus to worship You from the very centre of my being, deliver me from any form of religious show that is not rooted in Spirit and in Truth. In Jesus name, Amen

Theme: Worship in Spirit and Truth

Scripture: John 4:24 (KJV)
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

On this twenty-sixth day of April, Jesus teaches the Samaritan woman "and us" the essence of true worship. Having offered her living water that springs up into everlasting life (John 4:14), He now corrects her confusion about the proper place of worship. Neither Gerizim nor Jerusalem matters. What matters is the heart. As we continue in April 2026, this verse calls us to move beyond external forms and locations, and to worship the Father in the deepest reality of our being.

4:24a. "God is a Spirit:"

· "God is a Spirit" (Pneuma ho Theos): God’s essential nature is not physical or confined to space. He is invisible, eternal, and omnipresent. Therefore, He cannot be localised to a mountain or temple.

4:24b. "and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

· "In spirit" (en pneumati): Worship must engage the human spirit, the inner person. It is not mere ritual, posture, or location but an offering of the heart.
· "In truth" (en alētheia): Worship must align with God’s revealed truth, both in sincerity (no hypocrisy) and in accordance with Scripture. Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6). True worship centres on Him.
· "Must" (dei): Divine necessity. There is no other acceptable way. This echoes John 3:3—the new birth is necessary; likewise, worship in spirit and truth is mandatory.

Audit your worship: Ask yourself: Do I worship God as a Spirit, in the depths of my being, or only with my lips and posture? Is my worship truthful; sincere, biblical, Christ-focused?
Worship beyond walls: Wherever you are, you can worship. God is not confined; neither should your worship be.
Engage your spirit: Before you sing or pray, stir your inner self. Let your worship arise from the well of living water He has placed within you (John 4:14).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You are Spirit. Teach me to worship You in spirit and in truth; not in form only, but from the depths of my being. Accept the offering of my heart today. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

May today's devotional inspire and guide you to:

· Worship God beyond buildings and rituals.
· Engage your whole spirit in genuine adoration.
· Let truth (Jesus Himself), be the ground of your worship.

P.S. The woman left her water pot at the well, but she found a spring in her soul. True worship is not about where you go but who you are before Him. Worship in spirit and truth—starting now.

Theme: The Spring of Water Welling Up

Scripture: John 4:14 (KJV)
"But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

On this twenty-fifth day of April, Jesus speaks to a Samaritan woman at a well. Following the urgent warning about the wrath that abides on unbelief (John 3:36), He now offers a gift that quenches spiritual thirst forever. The woman came for physical water; Jesus offered Himself. As we continue in April 2026, this verse calls us to stop drawing from broken cisterns and to drink deeply from the living water that only He provides.

4:14a. "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;"

· "Whosoever drinketh" (hos an piē): The offer is universal. Any thirsty soul may come.
· "Shall never thirst" (ou mē dipsēsei eis ton aiōna): A double negative in Greek; meaning, an absolute certainty. The thirst of the soul is permanently quenched.

4:14b. "but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

· "A well of water" (pēgē hydatos): Not a stagnant pool but an artesian spring, self-replenishing.
· "Springing up into everlasting life" (hallomenou eis zōēn aiōnion): Bubbling up, leaping, ever fresh. The life Jesus gives is not a one-time drink but a perpetual source. This connects to John 3:16—everlasting life is a gift, and now Jesus describes its internal, sustaining nature.

Audit your thirst: Ask yourself: Am I still thirsty despite all I have tried? Have I drunk from the water He gives, or am I still drawing from the world's broken wells?
Drink deeply: Come to Jesus not once but continually. His water satisfies the deepest longings.
Let the spring flow: The water within you is not for you alone. Let it spring up and overflow to others.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I drink the water You give. Quench my thirst forever. Let Your Spirit be in me a well springing up into everlasting life. In Your name I pray, Amen.

May today's devotional inspire you to:

· Stop seeking satisfaction from the world’s empty wells.
· Drink daily from the living water of Christ.
· Let His life flow through you to a thirsty world.

P.S. The woman left her water pot (John 4:28). Once she drank the living water, earthly containers no longer mattered. What are you still carrying that you could leave behind?

Theme: The Wrath That Remains

Scripture: John 3:36 (KJV)
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

On this twenty-fourth day of April, John the Baptist delivers the final verdict of the gospel. Following the magnificent promise of John 3:16; that God gave His Son so that whosoever believes should not perish, John now draws the unavoidable conclusion. Belief brings life; unbelief brings wrath. There is no third option. As we continue in April 2026, this verse calls us to examine where we stand, for the wrath of God is not a future threat but a present reality for those who reject the Son.

3:36a. "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life:"

· "Believeth on the Son" (ho pisteuōn eis ton huion): Personal trust in Jesus as the revealed Son of God, not mere mental agreement. This echoes John 3:16; whosoever believes receives the gift.
· "Hath everlasting life" (echei zōēn aiōnion): Present tense. Eternal life is not merely a future hope; it is a present possession for the believer (John 5:24).

3:36b. "and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life;"

· "Believeth not the Son" (ho apeithōn tō huiō): Literally, "disobeys" or "refuses to believe." Unbelief is not passive ignorance but active rejection.
· "Shall not see life" (ouk opsetai zōēn): Future certainty. To reject the Son is to remain in spiritual death, never experiencing the life He gives.

3:36c. "but the wrath of God abideth on him."

· "The wrath of God" (hē orgē tou Theou): God’s righteous, settled opposition to sin. This is not capricious anger but holy justice.
· "Abideth on him" (menei ep' auton): Present tense. The unbeliever is not merely threatened with future wrath; wrath already rests upon him like a cloud (Romans 1:18). This connects to John 2:19—the temple of His body was raised; those who reject that resurrection remain under judgment.

Audit your standing: Ask yourself: Have I truly believed on the Son, or have I only given mental assent? Does the wrath of God abide on me, or have I passed from death to life?
Embrace the gift: Everlasting life is not earned but received. If you believe, you already have it. If you do not, turn now.
Warn others: The reality of abiding wrath is not for gloating but for urgent witness. Share the Saviour who alone removes the wrath.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I believe on You. Thank You for everlasting life; present and secure. Save me from the wrath that abides on unbelief, and let me be a herald of Your saving grace. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

May today's devotional inspire and lead you to:

· Rest in the assurance of everlasting life through belief.
· Turn from unbelief before wrath abides forever.
· Share the urgency of the gospel with those still under judgment.

P.S. John 3:16 is the good news; John 3:36 is the necessary warning. Life and wrath are both present realities. Your response to the Son determines which one abides on you. Believe and live.

Theme: The Heart of the Gospel

Scripture: John 3:16 (KJV)
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

On this twenty-third day of April, we stand at the very centre of the Bible. Following Jesus’ declaration that the new birth is essential (John 3:3), He now unveils the source and scope of that salvation. This verse is not merely a summary of the gospel; it is the gospel in its purest form. As we continue in April 2026, it calls us to move from religious duty to personal trust in the God who loved, gave, and invites.

3:16a. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,"

· "So loved" (houtōs ēgapēsen): The intensity, not the quantity. God’s love is immeasurable in depth, not just in extent.
· "The world" (ton kosmon): Fallen, rebellious humanity. Not the righteous but the ungodly (Romans 5:6).
· "He gave his only begotten Son" (ton huion ton monogenē edōken): The ultimate gift. Only begotten (monogenēs) means unique, one of a kind. This echoes John 1:14—the Word made flesh.

3:16b. "that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

· "Whosoever believeth" (pas ho pisteuōn): The offer is universal. No one is excluded except by their own unbelief.
· "Should not perish" (mē apolētai): The alternative to belief. Perishing is not annihilation but eternal separation from God.
· "Everlasting life" (zōēn aiōnion): Not merely endless existence but quality of life; knowing God (John 17:3). This connects to John 2:19—the resurrection of Christ secures this life.

Audit your response: Ask yourself: Do I truly believe in Him, or only believe facts about Him? Have I received everlasting life as a gift, or am I still trying to earn it?
Rest in His love: You do not need to make yourself worthy. God so loved the world; including you. Receive what He has given.
Believe and live: Faith is not a work; it is the hand that takes the gift. Take it now.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving the world; and me. Thank You for giving Your only Son. I believe in Him. I receive everlasting life. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

May today's devotional shift and inspire you to:

· Marvel at the depth of God’s love for you.
· Trust in Christ alone for salvation.
· Receive eternal life as a free gift, not a wage.

P.S. The verse does not say, “God so loved the righteous.” It says, “God so loved the world.” While you were still a sinner, He gave. Believe; and live.

Theme: The Necessity of the New Birth

Scripture: John 3:3 (KJV)
"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

On this twenty-second day of April, Jesus speaks to Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. Following His declaration about the temple of His body and resurrection (John 2:19), He now addresses the deepest human need. Nicodemus came by night, impressed by signs, but Jesus redirects him from external wonders to internal transformation. The new birth is not an option but an absolute necessity. As we continue in April 2026, this verse calls us to abandon all reliance on religious heritage or moral improvement and to receive the radical new beginning that only God can give.

3:3a. "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,"

· "Verily, verily" (Amēn, amēn): A solemn double affirmation, introducing a truth of utmost importance. Jesus speaks with divine authority, leaving no room for doubt.

3:3b. "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

· "Except a man be born again" (ean mē tis gennēthē anōthen): The word anōthen means both “again” and “from above.” The new birth is not a self-improvement project but a divine regeneration, a work of God’s Spirit (John 3:5-6).
· "He cannot see the kingdom of God" (ou dynatai idein tēn basileian tou Theou): Cannot indicates absolute impossibility. Human effort, religious pedigree, or moral reformation cannot gain entrance. Only the new birth suffices.

Audit your origin: Ask yourself: Have I been born again, or am I merely religious? Do I rely on my baptism, church attendance, or good works, or on the regenerating work of the Spirit?
Embrace the new birth: Do not try to improve the old nature; receive a new one. Come to Christ as a helpless sinner, and let Him give you life from above.
Live as one born from above: The new birth changes your family, your destiny, and your desires. Walk in the reality of your new identity.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I admit that my old self cannot see Your kingdom. By Your Spirit, give me a new birth, a new heart, a new start, a new life from above. In Your name I pray, Amen.

May today's devotional inspire you to:

· Abandon all self-reliance and seek the new birth.
· Receive the kingdom as a gift, not an achievement.
· Live each day as one born from above.

P.S. Nicodemus came seeking signs; Jesus told him he needed a new start. The empty tomb is wonderful, but the new birth is essential. Have you been born again?

Theme: The Temple of His Body

Scripture: John 2:19 (KJV)
"Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."

On this twenty-first day of April, Jesus responds to those who demanded a sign after His cleansing of the temple (John 2:16). They saw only a building of stone; He spoke of the temple of His body. His words seemed impossible, a destroyed temple raised in three days. But He was pointing to the greatest sign of all: His death and resurrection. As we continue in April 2026, this verse calls us to see beyond the physical to the spiritual reality of Christ’s victory over death.

2:19a. "Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple,"

· "Destroy this temple" (lysate ton naon touton): The religious leaders understood the literal temple. But Jesus spoke of His body (v. 21). The command “destroy” anticipates the cross—not their doing alone, but His willing surrender (John 10:18).

2:19b. "and in three days I will raise it up."

· "In three days I will raise it up" (en trisin hēmerais egerō auton): He predicted His resurrection. No one else could make such a claim. This connects to Luke 24:46, where the risen Christ declared that it behoved Him to rise the third day.

Audit your hope: Ask yourself: Do I trust in a crucified Saviour; and a risen Lord? Is my faith anchored in the empty tomb?
Embrace the sign: The resurrection is God’s definitive answer to every doubt. He who raised Jesus will raise you.
Live in resurrection power: The same power that raised the temple of His body lives in you (Romans 8:11).

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You destroyed the temple of Your body and raised it in three days. I trust in Your death and resurrection. Let Your risen life empower me today and forever. In the name that is above every other name, Amen.

May today's devotional inspire and shift you to:

· Build your faith on Christ’s death and resurrection.
· See His body as the true temple of God’s presence.
· Live in the power of His victory over death.

P.S. They destroyed the temple; He raised it. What men intended for evil, God used for the greatest good. The cross became the empty tomb’s doorway. Trust the Builder who raises what sin destroys.

Theme: Zeal for the Father’s House

Scripture: John 2:16 (KJV)
"And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise."

On this twentieth day of April, we witness Jesus’ righteous anger. Following His first sign of turning water into wine, manifesting His glory (John 2:11), Jesus now cleanses the temple. The house of prayer has become a marketplace. His command is not a suggestion but an authoritative purge. As we continue in April 2026, this verse calls us to examine what we have allowed to clutter the sacred spaces of our hearts and our worship.

2:16a. "And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence;"

· " _Take these things hence_ " (arate tauta enteuthen): A direct, commanding order. The doves were the poor man’s sacrifice, yet their sale had corrupted worship. Jesus removes the obstacle to true devotion.

2:16b. "make not my Father's house an house of merchandise."

· " _My Father's house"_ (ton oikon tou patros mou): Jesus claims intimate sonship. The temple belongs to His Father, not to profiteers. This echoes Luke 2:49, where the boy Jesus said, “I must be about my Father’s business.”
· " _An house of merchandise"_ (oikon emporiou): A commercial enterprise, not a sanctuary. Worship had been displaced by greed.

_Audit your heart:_ Ask yourself: Have I turned my heart, "God’s dwelling place" into a marketplace of distractions, worries, or selfish ambitions?
_Cleanse the temple:_ Invite Jesus to overturn every table that blocks your communion with the Father.
_Protect worship:_ Let prayer, not profit, be the purpose of your sacred spaces.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, cleanse Your temple—my heart. Remove every distraction and greed. Restore me as a house of prayer. In Your powerful name I pray, Amen.

May today's devotional shape and inspire you to:

· Guard your heart as a place of pure worship.
· Remove anything that turns devotion into commerce.
· Let zeal for God’s house consume you.

P.S. The same Jesus who provided wine at Cana now overturns tables at the temple. His grace does not cancel His holiness. Welcome both; and let Him purify what He has blessed.

Theme: The First Sign of Glory

Scripture: John 2:11 (KJV)
"This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him."

On this nineteenth day of April, we witness Jesus’ first miraculous sign. Following John’s declaration that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away sin (John 1:29), Jesus now reveals His glory at a wedding feast. Water becomes wine, not a dramatic healing or resurrection, yet profoundly significant. As we continue in April 2026, this verse calls us to see that the same glory that would shine on the cross first sparkled at a wedding celebration.

2:11a. "This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory;"

· "Beginning of miracles" (archēn tōn sēmeiōn): The first of seven “signs” in John’s Gospel. A sign points beyond itself to deeper truth.
· "Manifested forth his glory" (ephanerōsen tēn doxan autou): His divine glory, veiled in flesh, now visibly displayed. This connects to John 1:14—the Word made flesh, and we beheld His glory.

2:11b. "and his disciples believed on him."

· "His disciples believed on him" (episteusan eis auton): The sign produced faith. Not just intellectual agreement but trust in His person. This echoes John 1:29, where beholding the Lamb leads to belief.

Audit your faith: Ask yourself: Do I look for God’s glory only in the dramatic, or do I see it in ordinary moments transformed by His presence?
Look for His glory: The same Jesus who turned water into wine can transform your lack into abundance. Trust His timing and His power.
Let signs deepen belief: Every evidence of His grace is meant to strengthen your faith.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, manifest Your glory in my ordinary moments. Let me see Your hand at work, and let my faith grow stronger. I believe; help my unbelief. In Your faithful name I pray, Amen.

May today's devotional inspire you to:

· Recognize Christ’s glory in everyday transformations.
· Allow His signs to deepen your trust in Him.
· Believe not for miracles but for the Miracle-Giver Himself.

P.S. The wine ran out; Jesus provided abundantly. Your emptiness is never final when He is present. Watch for His glory, it often begins at the point of need.
