When a Teacher Earns Less than a Cleaner
There is something p@!nfully wr0ng in our society today.
A man spends 6 years in the university, goes for his diploma, struggles with professional exams, attends seminars, earns degrees upon degrees. He becomes a teacher—the shaper of destinies, the one entrusted with molding the next doctors, lawyers, engineers, and presidents.
Yet, at the end of the month, he collects a salary that is so small it disappears before he even gets home. 30,000. 40,000. Sometimes less.
Do you know what hu.rt$ more? In the same compound, the house help is paid 50,000. The cleaner in a private company collects 60,000. The security man, who never went beyond primary school, earns more than the teacher who taught a thousand students how to read, write, and dream.
Imagine the sh@me of standing in front of the classroom, teaching with all your passion, while knowing that your own student’s parents pay their driver more than you.
One teacher said:
"When I was sick, I couldn’t afford drugs. But the gateman in my compound who earns more than me sent his child to a private clinic. I stayed at home with paracetamol and prayers."
Another whispered:
"Sometimes I borrow money from the same cleaners I walk past every morning. Do you know the sh@m€? Do you know the hum!l!?"
Teachers carry the weight of the future, yet the system pays them less than those hired to sweep, clean, or open gates.
This is not just unf@!r. It is a nat!0nal !ns’ult.
If we continue like this, who will want to be a teacher tomorrow? Who will stand in the classroom to build our children if we treat the profession as the dustbin of society?
👉 This m@dn£$s has to stop. Teachers deserve dignity. They deserve salaries that match the destiny they carry.
Let’s raise our voices. Let’s demand better pay for teachers. If you’re reading this, share it until it reaches the ears of those in p0w£r. Because when a teacher earns less than a cleaner, the whole nation is already f@!ling
