DAY 06: ABIDE AND BEAR FRUIT.
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself.” (John 15:4)
Barrenness is painful because it mocks effort. You try, but nothing grows. You labour, but nothing shows. You pray, but everywhere stays dry.
Jesus does not answer barrenness with pressure. He answers it with abiding. He says to you “Remain in me.” That is not mystical. It is clear. Stay connected. Stay submitted. Stay responsive. Stay in His Presence.
A branch does not produce fruit by deciding to be fruitful. It produces fruit by remaining attached to the vine. The sap flows because the connection is intact. In the same way, fruitfulness returns when the soul returns to steady fellowship with Jesus. Many people want fruit without fellowship. They want results without abiding. Yet Jesus ties them together.
Abiding is also a healing. It heals the habit of running from place to place looking for relief. When you remain in Christ, you begin to heal from the inside out. The life of the Vine enters the branch, and what was dry begins to live again. Amen.
Jesus also speaks honestly about dependence. Apart from Him we can do nothing. That is not condemnation. That is mercy. It saves you from carrying weights you were never built to carry. It saves you from striving that breaks the soul. It brings you back to the simple truth that life flows from Him.
This is one of the healings God gives to those who come to take refuge under His shadow. He heals fruitlessness. He heals wasted seasons. He heals empty effort. The cure is not more noise. The cure is abiding.
Return to simple abiding and watch His life enter and make you whole again.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I am tired of dry seasons and empty labor. I do not want to live disconnected from You. Let Your life flow into me again. Heal my heart from discouragement, and heal my hope from disappointment. Restore fruitfulness in my spirit, in my work, and in my home. Amen.
