Today, immorality, fornication and adultery are no more looked upon as sin or evil. Our generation has phased out such words and replaced them with more convenient expressions like, making love, wife-swapping and extra-marital s*x. But from the beginning, it was not so. In the Old Testament, such an act was punishable by stoning unto death. Deuteronomy 22:20-25.
The major evil that caused God to destroy Noah’s generation and S***m and Gomorrah was nothing other than the evil of immorality. 2 Peter 2:4-5; Jude 6:7; Genesis 6:2-6.
One may say, after all, everybody was doing it in Noah’s generation too, and that was why God wiped them all out. The Bible warns us not to be quick to follow the multitude to do evil. God has a standard. His standard is holiness. His standard has not changed. His standard is revealed to us in His word.
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind…shall inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness…and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21
“But fornication and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints, neither filthiness…For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man…hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.” Ephesians 5:3-7
To get to heaven, you must take the straight and narrow road. You must subdue your flesh. You must deny yourself. Outside of Heavens gates are dogs and whoremongers. Revelation 22:15.
Therefore, you must strive to enter.
The kingdom of God is like a Lagos bus. Those of you who have been to Lagos know what it looks like. Due to the dense population and limited transport system, you can have up to 100 people fighting to enter an eighteen-sitter bus. Some will jump through the back window, or the side windows, while others will be hanging onto the door. The bus may not even have come to a halt, for while it is still moving, people will throw themselves inside. Survival of the fittest is the name of the game. The bus designed to carry 18 people will end up carrying not less than 30. Anybody who wants to be a gentleman under such circumstances will remain standing at the bus stop until nightfall. That is a picture of heaven. You must press in and strive to enter. Fight to enter.
“And if a man also strives for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strives lawfully.” 2 Timothy 2:5�If you say you are going to heaven, then you must strive lawfully. If you know very well that you are living with a man that had been legally married before, then what right have you to call yourself his wife for you are not his wife, you are an adulterer. Maybe you are living in a house with a man as husband and wife, yet you have not actually married; you are on trial marriage. In God’s eyes, there is no such thing. God calls it fornication.
We are living in a generation full of short cuts and compromise. But God’s standards remain the same. He does not lower His standard because man has lowered the standard. When men choose to go astray from God in multitudes, they shall also go to hell in multitudes.
“Enter ye in the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, AND MANY THERE BE WHICH GO IN THEREAT: Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, AND FEW THERE BE THAT FIND IT.” Matthew 7:13-14
Are you amongst the MANY or the FEW?�Apart from closing the doors of heaven against you, the sin of immorality will reduce you, as Sampson was reduced to a captive, when the Philistines made sport with him.
After falling into the sin of immorality with the daughters of Moab, the children of Israel exposed themselves to God’s judgment, and were smitten with a plague, reducing them by 24,000. Numbers 25:1-9.I pray that the good God will help you to overcome all the intrigue of the devil throughout life’s journey in Jesus name. Amen.
