This scripture is so powerful and every believer ought to know what Discretion really means.
DISCRETION: The quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offence or revealing confidential information.
The freedom to decide what should be done in a particular situation..
Discretion preserves your miracles or testimony till its full manifestation.
Knowing WHAT to say, HOW to say it and most IMPORTANTLY, WHEN to say it will save you from a lot of problems.
Don't voice out your projects too soon.
From the definition of discretion:
i. Avoid causing offence through poor Behavior. Your are being discreet when your behavior doesn't make another uncomfortable.
Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.
Phil 1:27
ii. Avoid causing offence through Words. Knowing how to speak, is a blessing . The person and the help of the Holy spirit cannot be under emphasized, when has to do with bridling this little yet powerful object called the tongue.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. - Philippians 4:8
Remember out of the abundance of the heart , your mouth will speak.
iii. Avoid revealing confidential Information. Especially your God- given vision and assignment too soon.
And I arose in the night, I and a few men with me; I told no one what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem; nor was there any animal with me, except the one on which I rode. Neh 2:12.
iv. The Ability to make decisions.
Decision making as a believer also portrays discretion. Every believer should know what can edify the spirit.
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify 1 Cor 10:23.
IMPORTANCE OF DISCRETION
Proverbs 2:12, ESV: "delivering you from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech,"
