Theme: Overcoming the inferiority complex (Marc Julien)
Sometimes we feel inferior to others. The inferiority complex is a concern centered on a physical, intellectual or psychological defect.
This is caused by several things but above all a big lack of confidence.
You can look at yourself and be ashamed of who you are, feel bad about yourself, be ashamed of the parts of your body that you hide.
in reality you are someone very intelligent and gifted but by looking at the others you do not consider yourself at their level, you may not have done major studies, or attended high schools and you say you have not valuable.
Today society gives us a picture of what we have to do, look like to be recognized and accepted (to have a rich appearance, to do great studies, to have the latest trends, exposed body parts in pictures) and because of this many feel inferior because according to the criteria of the world they do not have the qualifications.
We live in this world but a young Christian must react differently and he must not envy anyone because he has been wonderfully made by God and has a great mission to accomplish on earth.
We must not feel complexed because God himself has chosen us and despite our shortcomings and faults, He sees in us what we cannot see nor men.
The Lord saw in Jeremiah a prophet, He saw in Moses a leader and a liberator, He saw in Gideon a valiant soldier and leader but them they saw themselves small, weak, incapable but with the force of God, they could walk in their calls. (Jeremiah 1: 1-4, Exodus 3: 11-15, Judges 6: 11-17)
It is the Lord who gives us the capacity to do his will and our so-called faults are not excuses but rather they have an important role to play in witnessing the glory of God who is able to greatly use things men consider useless and worthless.
How do people often react when they are complexed?
1) They want to demean everyone, they insult others, they seek revenge, they are never happy with the success of others, most of them proud and that creates a lot more injuries in them.
2) They invent lives to be accepted. By fear of feeling rejected, they decide to live above their standards, to be cool, engage in practices against the will of God so that they are validated. around the world. Most are uncomfortable living such lives and sad, but they do not want to separate because they are afraid of being rejected.
How should a young Christian react and what should he know?
1) He must know consciously and really that he is the son or daughter of God. If a child can feel strong and secure in all areas of his life because of the strength and authority of his earthly father , how much more if the Almighty God is your Father. The Bible makes us understand in Ephesians 1:3-5 that we are sons of God chosen and predestined by God himself, it is a huge privilege that many people do not have.
2) Only God's opinion on your life matters. God does not look at what men look at. When men see the outside God sees the inside and the potential in you as in the case of David (1 Samuel 16: 6-13).
The men on the outside will see you small and shy but God in you sees a leader, men will call you ugly but God sees a wonderful creature a young person set apart and consecrated for him focus on what God says concerning you,his promises for your life and not what men say. He doesn't need your skills, intellectual capacity, experience to use you.
3) You have nothing to prove to anyone. It's not because everyone does bad things to feel accepted that you have to do it, it's not because some girls expose parts of their body to prove that they are beautiful that you should do it too.You are beautiful just because you know that God did not make a mistake in creating you and you do not need to prove that to someone. Jesus did not seek to prove to the devil that he is the son of God by transforming the stones into bread (Matthew 4: 1-4).He already knew it and he didn't give in to the devil's suggestions.
4) True beauty comes from the heart and is expressed through love which is the perfect nature of God. Beauty is not determined by your physical appearance but what comes out of your heart. We often say that God is beautiful and if God is a Spirit that we cannot see it means that he is beautiful not because he has a physical appearance but he is beautiful because He is love, He is patient, He is merciful so if we are created in his image, our beauty must come from the inside because it is useless to be beautiful outside but to be filled with hatred, bitterness in your heart.
In conclusion, you are a wonderful creature. God loves you so much and He sees in you so much potential and talent. You are destined and called to live in his love and manifest his glory. Your validation must come from God and not men itis better to have the OK of God and lose men than to be accepted by everyone and to be separated from God.
