Jesus saw her, called her, and healed her

One of the tragedies that befall humanity is poor health. It does not only humiliate, but it makes one incapacitated!. Imagin this woman in today's gospel!. She was sick for eighteen years, doubled bent so much that she scarcely walk straight. Praise God, Jesus SAW her, CALLED her, LAID his hands on her, and immediately she was made STRAIGHT, and she PRAISED God.
The healing of this woman highlights what Isaiah prophesied about the messiah: "By his wounds, we are healed"(53:5b). You may have a similar challenge like this woman that has not only made your life double bend, but that the "rulers"around you dont want you to be helped by Jesus.
I assure you, children of God,
you, too, are the children of Abraham who deserve healing.

WHO IS JESUS TO YOU?

Before he was born, the Prophet Isaiah foretold that a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, whose name will be Immanuel-God with us(7:14). John the Baptist, Jesus' Forerunner, equally talked much about Jesus as one who was greater than him. So, Jesus finally came and wanted to know from his closet collaborators who the crowd said he was: and Peter replied: Christ of God

Who is Jesus to you?

CRY NO MORE

There are different reasons why people cry. Some people cry because of the loss of something very dear to them. The Widow of Nain cried because of the loss of her only son; and Jesus told her not to weep. You might be crying right now because of one reason or the other.

Jesus is saying to you,
"Do not weep."

BY THEIR FRUITS, WE SHALL KNOW THEM

One of the popular scriptural sayings that I learned right at my tender age was the above saying! What this means is that our actions portray who we are and who we are not. We cannot claim to be Christians and / or believers when our way of life contradicts us. Jesus tells us today that neither does bad tree bear good fruits nor a good tree bears bad fruit.
What type of tree are you, and which type of fruit do you bear?

*LOVE YOUR ENEMIES*

The teaching of Jesus on the love for enemies is one of the difficult and hard teachings that requires enough grace. But is Jesus teaching us what he never practiced? Not at all.

Jesus loved all, including those who were considered enemies. This is highlighted in his prayer on the Cross: *Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing*(Lk 23:34).

To forgive an enemy is hard, but when we forgive, God too forgives us.

SEEK WHAT IS ABOVE

St. Paul's admonition to the new converts at Colossae is a "twin" admonition of Jesus where he said: *Seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness, and every other thing will be added unto you*(Matt 6:33)

We are living here on earth, but as sojourners, who are heading toward heaven. Therefore, in as much as we live here on earth, we mustn't lose sight of the greatest thing in heaven, life that has no end. St. Paul says: *Think of what is above, not of what is on earth* He tells the Colossians to shun the attitude of mal-behavioursim, such as immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, that is idolatry.

Heaven is beautiful; let us not miss it. It is in heaven that we shall find joy satisfaction when we shall be rejoined with those who have gone ahead of us.

“Born to bring forth the Light of the World.”
Today, we rejoice in the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary—our model of grace, humility, and unwavering faith. Her life began with purpose, and through her, salvation entered the world.

May her nativity inspire us to embrace hope, serve with love, and walk boldly in God's plan.

Happy Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary! 💙✨

SHARE YOUR FOOD WITH THE HUNGRY WHEN YOU FAST

Jesus is questioned on why the disciples of John fasted but his own do not fast. His answer sounds like escaping from the main question. However, new wine in New wineskin highlights that the new laws do not match with the old ones. Additionally, the presence of Jesus was like a period of merriment where fasting was not required. Fasting is a way of spiritual discipline and not a kind of religiousity and an act to be done so as to win admiration from one's admirers.

Like the people at the time of Jesus who wanted to impose fasting on his disciples because those of John the Baptist had fasted, some members of apostolic groups in our time, too, sometimes, try to impose or force their spirituality on others. No, it shouldn't be like that. Fasting is a way of spirituality rather than religiousity; and this is the BEST way of fasting; to share your food with the hungry.
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?"(Isaiah 58:6-7)
Stop imposing your spirituality on others.

ALWAYS STAND FOR AND SPEAK THE TRUTH

In his "Veritas Splendor," Pope St. John Paul II emphasizes that truth is a transcendent quality of God and is intrinsically linked to the divine law. Truth is one, universal, and it has ONLY ONE version, no matter how twisted and manipulated it is. Jesus insists that truth be spoken, and through it, one is set free (John 8:32-33).

John the Baptist told Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife." This infuriated Herodias, and unable to kill John, she had her daughter ask for the head of John the Baptist. Though John the Baptist was beheaded, he teaches us to openly condemn evil. Like Herod, many people risk making hasty promises. Like Herodias, many mothers have encouraged their daughters to behead "John the Baptist" via abortion. Like Herodias' daughter, many girls have made costly requests from their parents, regardless of their implications.

Like John the Baptist, let us choose to die for speaking the truth.

*BE READY*

We are living in a world where we prepare for everything except for the coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ, when he will come to judge the living and the death. People prepare and get ready for marriage. Some couples prepare and get ready for pregnancy and even buy things for their children in potency. Others prepare for interviews and examinations. Proprietors/proprietresses, parents, teachers, students, and pupils prepare and get ready for the new school year. In like manner, we are encouraged to be ready for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Today is the memorial of St. Augustine of Hippo. He lived a wayward life, but through his mother's ceaseless prayers, he repented and was baptized by St. Ambrose. He was ordained priest and later became a bishop. What God can not do does not exist. To all mothers whose children might be wayward, be rest assured of their miraculous change to becoming better children.
