JOSEPH WASN’T WASTED IN THE WAITING

Key Scripture

Genesis 39:2 (NLT)

“The LORD was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.”

Thought / Reflection

Joseph’s circumstances changed repeatedly.

From his father’s house to the pit.

From the pit to slavery.

From slavery to prison.

Yet something remained constant:

God was with him.

Joseph didn’t have to wait until the palace to become faithful.

He learned to serve faithfully where he was.

And that matters because sometimes we postpone our growth until our circumstances change.

“We’ll start when things get better.”

“I’ll serve when I have more.”

“I’ll become disciplined when I get there.”

But God can develop you right where you are.

Your current season may not look like the promise, but it is still part of your story.

Don’t wait for the next season to become the person God is calling you to be.

Where you are today is still a place where God can work in you.

Truth / Confession
Where I am today is still a place where I can grow.

Action Point
What can you do faithfully today instead of waiting for your circumstances to change?

Closing Prayer
Father, teach me to be faithful in the place where I am. Help me recognize what You are doing in me and make the most of this season. Amen.

WHAT IF THE WAITING IS CHANGING YOU?

James 1:3–4 (NLT)

“For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.”

Thought / Reflection

We often ask:

“When will this season end?”

But perhaps there is another question worth asking:

“Who am I becoming while I’m here?”

Waiting can expose things in us that we didn’t know were there.

Impatience.
Fear.
Comparison.
Control.
Entitlement.

But it can also develop something deeper.

Endurance.
Trust.
Wisdom.
Maturity.

Sometimes God is doing a work in you that you cannot yet see.

The waiting may not be the destination.

But God can use the season to form you for what comes next.

So don’t waste this season only wishing it would end.

Pay attention to what God is teaching you.

Pay attention to what He is changing in you.

Because sometimes the greatest evidence that God is working isn’t that your circumstances have changed.

It’s that you have.

Truth / Confession

I will not waste my waiting. God is growing me even here.

Action Point

Ask yourself:

“What is this season revealing about me?”

Then ask:

“What is God inviting me to change?”

Closing Prayer

Lord, help me see what You are developing in me while I wait. Give me grace to embrace the process and become the person You are shaping me to be. Amen.

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness.”

Thought / Reflection

There are waiting seasons when prayer feels difficult.

Not because you have stopped loving God.

Not because you have stopped believing.

Sometimes, you’re simply tired of saying the same thing.

You’ve prayed about it.

You’ve cried about it.

You’ve asked again.

You’ve waited.

And eventually, you don’t even know what else to say.

Sometimes your prayer is no longer a long conversation.

Sometimes it’s simply:

“Lord, help me.”

And that is still prayer.

God doesn’t require impressive words from a tired heart.

He isn’t measuring the length of your prayer to determine the depth of your faith.

He meets you in your weakness.

Romans 8 reminds us that when we don’t know what to pray, the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness.

So when you don’t have the words, you don’t have to manufacture them.

You can simply come.

Sit before God.

Cry before God.

Be silent before God.

Tell Him the truth.

“Lord, I’m tired.”

“Lord, I don’t understand.”

“Lord, I don’t know what to say anymore.”

Those words may feel small to you, but God understands the heart behind them.

Sometimes faith isn’t praying harder.

Sometimes faith is simply refusing to stop coming into God’s presence.

You don’t have to perform your way through this waiting season.

You can come to God exactly as you are.

When you have many words, pray.

When you have only a few words, pray.

When you have no words, come anyway.

Your weakness does not disqualify you from God’s presence.

It is precisely where His grace can meet you.

Truth / Confession

Even when I don’t have the words, God understands my heart. I can come to Him honestly, even in my weakness.

Action Point / Reflective Question

Don’t force a long prayer today.

Sit quietly before God and tell Him exactly how you feel.

If all you can say is “Lord, help me,” let that be enough for today.

Closing Prayer
Holy Spirit, help me pray when I don’t have the strength or words. Meet me in my weakness and remind me that I don’t have to perform before God. Teach me to remain in His presence, even when my heart is tired. Amen.

**WHEN EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS AHEAD**

— WEEK 2: WHEN YOUR HEART GETS TIRED

Psalm 73:3 (NLT)

“For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.”

Thought / Reflection

Waiting becomes harder when you start watching everybody else.

At first, you were simply waiting.

Then someone got married.

Someone got the job.

Someone’s prayer was answered.

Someone who started after you seems to be far ahead.

And suddenly, your waiting begins to feel like falling behind.

You start asking questions you never asked before:

“What about me?”

“When will it be my turn?”

“Am I doing something wrong?”

Comparison has a way of turning another person’s testimony into an accusation against your own journey.

Psalm 73 gives us a glimpse into this struggle.

The psalmist admitted that he became envious when he saw others prospering. He wasn’t pretending that comparison didn’t affect him.

And that’s important.

Sometimes the hardest part of waiting isn’t the waiting itself.

It’s watching someone else receive what you have been praying for.

But their timeline is not God’s promise to you.

Their chapter is not your clock.

Someone else’s marriage does not mean you are late.

Someone else’s promotion does not mean you have been forgotten.

Someone else’s answered prayer does not mean God has ignored yours.

God is not running a race where everyone’s finish line is supposed to look the same.

You are not late because someone else arrived before you.

There are things God may be doing in your life that cannot be measured by what you see happening in someone else’s life.

So celebrate people without turning their testimony into a measurement of your worth.

You can genuinely rejoice with someone else and still trust God for your own story.

Your journey is not behind simply because it looks different.

God’s faithfulness to you cannot be measured by someone else’s timeline.

Truth / Confession
I will not measure God’s faithfulness to me by someone else’s timeline. My journey is in God’s hands, and I trust His timing for my life.

Action Point / Reflective Question
Take a break from comparison today.

Celebrate someone else’s testimony without using it to judge your own journey.

If you find yourself comparing, pause and say:

“Their story is not my clock. God is still writing mine.”

Closing Prayer
Lord, teach me to trust Your timing without comparing my journey to another person’s. Heal every place where comparison has made me feel behind, forgotten, or inadequate. Give me grace to celebrate others sincerely while remaining confident in Your purpose for my own life. Amen.

I Got to a Point Where I Had to Remind Myself of What I Already Knew About God.

Hey Tribe, It’s Shuri Here from the Christian Village. There are seasons when your circumstances become so loud that they begin to drown out what you know about God.

You know He is faithful.

You know He answers prayer.

You know He has carried you before.

But when you have been waiting for the same thing for a long time, knowing those things and feeling them can become two different experiences.

I think that’s what makes Lamentations 3 so powerful.

Jeremiah was surrounded by reasons to lose hope.

And then he says:

“But I will call this to mind, and therefore I will have hope.”

Sometimes hope doesn’t come because your circumstances suddenly changed.

Sometimes you have to call something to mind.

You have to remember:

God was faithful then.
God is faithful now.

He may not have answered the way you expected.
He may not have moved when you wanted Him to.

But His faithfulness did not expire because your waiting got longer.

Maybe that’s what you need today.

Not another explanation.

Not another prediction.

Just a reminder:

Your waiting season has not changed the character of God.
