Topic: BE IN CHRIST
Key Scriptures: Philemon 1:6; 2 Corinthians 5:17
Preacher: Apst. Tochi Christian
What Does It Mean to Be in Christ?
Being in Christ is more than simply being called a Christian. It should affect who we are, how we live, how we speak, and how we relate with others.
1. Christ is a place.
Being in Christ means having a place of security, refuge, and protection. Psalm 91 speaks of dwelling in the secret place of the Most High.
2. Christ is a lifestyle.
If we are in Christ, His character should become visible in our lives through our decisions, attitudes, relationships, and responses.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.”
Being in Christ means there should be evidence of transformation.
3. Christ is a culture.
Culture shapes how we think, behave, communicate, and relate with others. When Christ becomes our culture, we don’t just carry the name Christian; we allow His values to shape our everyday lives.
Keys to Note
Be responsible.
Being in Christ comes with responsibility. We serve God, participate in His work, develop ourselves, and use our resources including our finances for His work.
Speak the right word.
Our words matter. To speak God’s Word, we must know God’s Word. Bible study, meditation, and spiritual growth help us respond to situations from God’s perspective rather than simply from our emotions.
Philemon 1:6 reminds us that the communication of our faith becomes effective as we acknowledge every good thing in us through Christ.
Therefore: If I am in Christ, Christ should become evident in me.
Glory to God!
