Where Are You?
There is a popular statement or question in the Bible that God asks Adam, and it is a very important one that we must reflect on because it has very deep meaning. As we begin to think about it, logic might indicate that God was asking Adam where he was in terms of his physical position, his place, his environment, or his surroundings.
However, in a deeper sense, we know from scripture that God was highlighting that Adam had left his position , his authority, and his dominion .
"Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, 'Where are you?'"Genesis 3:9
Location Determines Identity
The emphasis here is that the place where you are determines who you become. Of course, we can easily say "yes" to this question, but if there is any doubt, let us look at what the Bible says. Adam was instructed by God not to go to a particular position or location based on the fact that it would influence his faith.
God said "do not eat of the tree in the midst of the garden." It was a specific location, an environment that had the ability to influence someone. Many of us have gone to places, met people, or changed locations that have unconsciously changed us, causing us to compromise entirely.
Do you know that your interactions, your environment, and the people you keep around you can have a soft, subtle influence on you? Sometimes it might go unrecognised; you might see it as insignificant . But the Bible shows clearly through the life and story of Adam that our environment can have a profound influence on us. where you are could either impact you positively or negatively. Stay conscious, stay alert, because your enemy, the devil, is roaming like a roaring lion, seeking whom to devour.
God bless you
