Text: Psalm 23:1-6
Preacher: Rev Dr Shadrach Vegah
We live in a world heavily burdened by fear and anxiety. Whether it is the ongoing stress of societal crises, economic hardships, inflation, or the weight of raising children in a challenging environment, our fears are real and legitimate.

βIn his sermon on Psalm 23, Rev. Dr. Shadrach Vegah reminds us that King David answered this by looking to his own past as a caretaker. David points us to the ultimate source of peace: trusting God as our personal Shepherd who intimately cares about every detail of our lives.
βThrough Christ, our Good Shepherd, we find three beautiful promises to anchor our souls:
βπ He Provides and Guides (vv. 1β3):
A faithful shepherd leads his flock to green pastures and quiet waters. God doesnβt give us "second best." He provides exactly what we need for physical and spiritual survival, restoring our souls and guiding us down paths of righteousness.
βπ‘οΈ He Protects in the Darkness (vv. 4β5):
Life will take us through deep, dark valleys of trial, illness, or grief. But we fear no evil because He is with us. His rod and staff comfort us. Even when surrounded by life's battles, He prepares a table of lavish grace and anoints us with the Holy Spirit.
βπ‘ He Preserves for Eternity (v. 6):
We are not pursued by our troubles; instead, God's goodness and mercy actively pursue us all the days of our lives. Through Jesusβthe Good Shepherd who laid down His life for usβwe have the ultimate assurance that we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
βThe Takeaway:
Following the Shepherd doesnβt mean our earthly trials vanish, but it guarantees we never walk through them alone. Exchange your anxiety for His peace today. Shift from a mindset of scarcity to one of gratitude, knowing that in Christ, you lack nothing truly necessary.
βReflect on your life this week: What "valley" do you need to hand over to the Good Shepherd today? π
