Here's a wonderful testimony from Rody de Guzman, a member of our ward here in Geneva. We add our testimonies of the power of the Christ's sacrifice, and the promise of the resurrection.🕊️

"We have been made aware of the passing away of friends, spouses and family members of friends as well as others we have come to know and have been taken away from our presence by this insidious phenomenon we refer to as the Covid 19 pandemic.

"Indeed, some of us have lost our own loved ones. Nonetheless there is reason to be hopeful by way of our faith in the Lord, our Savior and Redeemer, even Jesus Christ. He has said: 'These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.' (John 16:33)

"In this connection, I would like to share with you a talk by Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, who served in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of our Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. (There are those who refer to us as 'Mormons'). He has since passed away after delivering this talk, which he gave not long after his own wife passed away. It is entitled 'Sunday Will Come'. May I suggest that you watch the video of Elder Wirthlin's talk; please click on Sunday Will Come (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2006/10/sunday-will-come?lang=eng). You can also read the text of his talk given also in this link.

"I hope that it will be a source of comfort for those who mourn the loss of a loved one; and that each one of us will be willing to mourn with those who mourn; and comfort those who stand in need of comfort. And that we can 'succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees.'

"May the Holy Spirit, the Great Comforter, be with us all at this time. An important message in this talk, and that I wish to share with you, is that Families Are Forever. When our time on this earth is done, we can return to our loving Heavenly Father and can be reunited as families. That is, we will recognize the family ties we have, as husband and wife, as children and parents and as brothers and sisters, among others.

"I know this to be true; for the Holy Spirit has whispered it to me in His soft small voice, that it is so. I also tend to believe that Friends are Forever."

Because of the life and eternal sacrifice of the Savior of the world, we will be reunited with those we have cherished.

On Fathers Day

Fathers: A God-Given Role
Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, friends—our lives are blessed with men
who have cared for us throughout our lives

Fatherhood, a Divine Role
The role of father originated with God himself, our Heavenly Father, and is a divine role and calling. Becoming a father, stepfather, grandfather, or foster father is an opportunity to become like God, to love and care for children as God loves and cares for us. God loves and supports all fathers as they try their best to raise and care for those in their care.

Please click on the link and watch the short video at the end. A young father reflects how life changed... when her daughter was born.

General Conference April 2016

'Fathers'
By Elder D. Todd Christofferson
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

I focus today on the good that men can do in the highest of masculine roles—husband and father.

I speak today of fathers. Fathers are fundamental in the divine plan of happiness, and I want to raise a voice of encouragement for those who are striving to fill well that calling. To praise and encourage fatherhood and fathers is not to shame or discount anyone. I simply focus today on the good that men can do in the highest of masculine roles—husband and father.

Please find below two classic talks. For each, there is text and the audio recording. Please make sure to listen to his talks; he has a special, powerful way of delivering a speech. Please especially note his story about a currant bush, near the end of 'God is the Gardener,' The Lord does know us individually and we can trust him.

Happy Mothers' Day to mothers, mothers-to-be and indeed to all women. We wish to share with you this three-minute video entitled " ‘You are the women he foresaw’: It is said that this is "perfect for the women in your life."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7xmjwJw6Bc

It was produced by our Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It starts by referring to the time in September 1979; the President of the Church then, President Spencer W. Kimball was hospitalized. So he asked his wife to read his talk in a general women’s meeting. Sister Camilla Kimball testified on his behalf that major growth in the Church would come to the Church in the last days and that much of that growth would be because of the good women of the world, women who would reflect righteousness in their lives. And in October 2015 general conference of the Church, President Russell M. Nelson, then President of the Quorum of the Apostles (now the President of the Church) said the women President Kimball foresaw were the women of today.

This new new Church video combines the messages of President Kimball’s talk and President Nelson’s talk in a powerful way that is sure to touch the women in your life.

This video features President Spencer W. Kimball’s message from 1979 foretelling the role of women in the Church in the latter days, and President Russell M....

This picture tells the story of Jesus Christ by depicting one of His Hands. We strive to use our hands and hearts to do works like those of the man called Jesus, who walked this earth and will come again! We can then share what we have come to know and feel, with others - family members, friends, neighbors and colleagues, as we extend to them our hands in love, compassion and friendship.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:16-17

General Conference is always a wonderful and special opportunity to hear the voice and counsels of our Heavenly Father through his Apostles and Prophets. We invite you to prepare for it, by reflecting beforehand on questions and/or concerns you may have; and be alert for spiritual promptings that may address these (even by words unspoken) as you attend the Conference. Please also pray about who in your circle will benefit from hearing these inspired words. We encourage you to take notes of the spiritual impressions you receive and to act upon them.

One member said: "By listening to the talks from our inspired General Authority leaders, I always get answers to my questions.” Another noted that "conference time is revelation time."

The biannual event which features counsel, direction and invitations from Church leaders provides opportunities to learn, receive answers to specific questions, feel the Holy Ghost and recharge spiritual batteries.

General Conferences of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are semiannual events in which Latter-day Saints and others - family members, friends, colleagues and neighbors - gather (virtually only right now) to hear Christ-centered messages of love and hope from Prophets, Apostles and other Church leaders.

Although COVID-19 continues to prevent large in-person gatherings, more people than ever are tuning in to General Conference thanks to technology. The potential audience for the April 2021 conference (April 3–4, 2021) is expected to be larger than any previous Church gathering.

We also invite you to visit ComeuntoChrist.org

💐 A wonderful piece of writing on the easter story by brother de Guzman. He is one of our members here in Geneva:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have marked Palm Sunday that reminded us how our Lord was welcomed, yet in a matter of days those shouts of Hosannas would be replaced by "Crucify him." At the Last Supper, He instituted the ordinance that can help us to remember our covenant with Him; that we will do our part such as observing His commandments and that He will do His part, such as blessing us with the comforting presence of the Holy Spirit. "I the Lord am bound when you do what I say; but when you do not, what I say, you have no promise." We remember how his body was sacrificed and blood shed even unto death.

His Mission from His Father is now about to be completed. In the Garden of Gethsemane (whose literal meaning is oil press), His body and soul was pressed, even to a great level of suffering, that we may be redeemed from death and save from our sins. So extreme was His suffering that thrice He said in the loneliness of that night: "Father if thou be willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine be done." And there appeared an angel (possibly Michael) unto Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being such in agony he prayed more earnestly; and His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground." (Luke 22:42-44).

In Gethsemane, He took upon Himself, not only the sins of each one of us, but all our frailties and sicknesses; "that He may know how to succor us."

The pains and mockery continued, being spat on His face and a crown of thorns placed upon His head. He was accused and sentenced to die an ignominious death by being nailed to the Cross. So the travails and suffering of Gethsemane carried on to Calvary. After some hours, after imploring His Father to forgive those who maltreated Him ' for they know not what they do' to the words 'Consummatum est' meaning it is finished, He died.

His body was reclaimed and placed in the tomb provided by Joseph of Arimathea.

And on the third day by the reckoning of time by the Jews, the most glorious of glorious events transpired. He arose from the dead and was resurrected! ´O death where is thine sting?' Now, we can then sing praises of Alleluia.

In these coming days of Lent, may we ponder in our mind and heart that which transpired then, that enable us to say My Lord and My God; but also refer to Him us my Savior and Redeemer. I do so in His Holy name, even Jesus Christ. Amen. 💐
