What Are You Speaking? The words we speak and the attitudes we carry reflect the condition of our hearts. When we spew hate, anger, and negativity, it reveals more about us than it does about the situations or people we’re upset with. This is a serious matter because God calls us to bear the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
If our words and actions are marked by strife, anger, and bitterness, we must take a hard look at whether we are truly allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us. Jesus reminds us: “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34). What are your words saying about your heart?
Ask yourself:
Am I speaking life or death over others?
Do my words and actions glorify God, or do they feed into the enemy’s plans?
Am I operating out of love, or am I letting anger take control?
The way we communicate matters. Let’s choose to reflect Christ in every word and action. Let your life be marked by grace, mercy, and love, showing the world the power of the Spirit at work in you.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to guard my heart and my mouth. Let my words and actions reflect Your Spirit, not my flesh. Remove any bitterness or anger that doesn’t honor You, and fill me with Your love, peace, and gentleness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
