Disarming Beauty - The Book

Disarming Beauty - The Book Disarming Beauty Adapted from talks given by Fr. They present the content of his elaboration of the gospel message in light of the tradition of Fr.

In 2005, Father Julián Carrón became the leader of the global ecclesial movement Communion and Liberation, following the death of the movement's founder, Father Luigi Giussani. Disarming Beauty is the English translation of an engaging and thought-provoking collection of essays by one of the principal Catholic leaders and intellectuals in the world today. Carrón, these essays have been thoroughly

reworked by the author to offer an organic presentation of a decade-long journey. Giussani, the teachings of the popes, and the urgent needs of contemporary people. Carrón offers a broad diagnosis of challenges in society and then introduces their implications in contexts such as families, schools, workplaces, and political communities. In a dialogue with his listeners, he inspires and encourages them to lay out a new path for the Catholic church and the world. Throughout his essays, Carrón addresses the most pressing questions facing theologians today and provides insights that will interest everyone, from the most devout to the firm nonbeliever. Grappling with the interaction of Christian faith and modern culture, Carrón treats in very real and concrete ways what is essential to maintaining and developing Christian faith, and he invites an ongoing conversation about the meaning of faith, truth, and freedom.

Why the "I" Can’t Be Erased by the Darkness 🕯️

In an era defined by "thick fog" and profound confusion, it’s easy to feel paralyzed. But as Julián Carrón explores in his latest piece, "The Irreducibility of the I," our very disorientation is proof of our greatness.

Why don't we just give up when life gets hard? Because our "thirsty hearts" are the ultimate proof that water exists. The fact that we keep searching for meaning—even in a multicultural world without a shared vision—shows that the human person is "irreducible." We are made for more than just survival; we are made for a Presence.

Carrón reminds us that the "star" we look for today isn't just an ancient story—it’s found in the faces of people changed by an encounter with the Mystery.

✨ Key takeaway: We aren’t condemned to be lost. Hope is found in the "multiplication of recognizable Presences" that spark a joy the world can’t give.

Every day is an unwritten page, not just a copy of yesterday. In a recent dialogue on work and meaning, Julián Carrón reminds us that we are "brand new" each morning, waiting for that spark of interest to ignite our engagement with reality. Read the full dialogue on the nature of "beginning" here:

✨ Everything is in the beginning.

Today marks more than just the start of a new chapter — it’s a chance to rediscover ourselves. As shared in the dialogue “Everything is in the Beginning,” the beginning isn’t merely a calendar date or a first step, but a profound opportunity: the moment we choose to look at our work, our life, our relationships with meaning and purpose.

Work, at its best, becomes a path of growth — not just a job to earn a salary, but a place where our deepest needs for truth, beauty, justice, and belonging meet reality.

It’s a call to awaken: to live with openness, courage, and a “work within the work,” recognizing that — in each new beginning — lies the seed of what we may become. 🌱

In a searching dialogue with volunteers on the front lines of human need, Don Julián Carrón explores a radical proposition: that true hope is not a wish for the future, but a concrete certainty in the present—a "foothold" that allows us to face suffering, failure, and even death without despair.

In a world of rushing and routine, two elderly figures - Simeon and Anna - teach us the power of holy anticipation. While countless others missed the moment, these faithful watchers recognized the infant Jesus being presented at the Temple, seeing in a seemingly ordinary ritual the extraordinary presence of God.

Why could they see what others missed? Because "things reveal their meaning to those who await them."
Some profound insights from today's reflection:
True waiting is a gift of the Spirit, not just passing time
Age can either lead to skepticism or deeper wisdom
Authentic faith transforms routine rituals into encounters with the divine
Joy in recognizing Christ naturally overflows to others
As Simeon proclaimed holding the child: "My eyes have seen your salvation... a light for revelation to all nations."
May we too cultivate hearts of expectation that can recognize God's presence in the ordinary moments of our days. 🙏

There are many noble ways to defend life. One of them is just being there for each other and giving hope to a Christian life that already gives much, even when everything seems lost. These are the squares.

There are many noble ways to defend life. One of them is just being there for each other and giving hope to a Christian life that already gives much, even when everything seems lost. These are the little squares.
