Topic: Praise the Lord

Text: Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
‭Psalms 150:6

Dear believer, the call for everything that has breath to praise the Lord is one that shouldn't be ignored. When the Pharisees protested against the people for crying hosanna to the king and petitioned Jesus to ask them to stop, he told them that if they stopped, stones would rise and praise the name of the Lord. The implication is that although stones are lifeless objects, God is able to infuse breath into them just for the purpose of praising him. This therefore means that you who has breath should praise the Lord and not cease to do so. And if you ever need a reason to praise the Lord it should be that God is God and besides him there is no other. Praise the Lord.

Prayer: O Lord, i praise you today because you are God and besides you there is no other.

Topic: Be devoted to God

Text: No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 6:24

Dear believer, you must decide once and for all who your devotion and your allegiance is to. You're either serving God wholeheartedly or you're devoted to Mammon. There is no neutral ground. It is the master whom you choose to serve that you'll be committed to. Service to God requires total commitment. We must quit trying to use God as a poverty alleviation scheme or a financial empowerment institution. This means that our decision to serve shouldn't be centered around what we want to gain from him hence, we shouldn't serve God because we want riches or prosperity. The moment our service to God becomes condition based, it will result in us quitting in our devotion to him once we get what we want or we'd start grumbling if our expectations are not met leading to claims that God isn't real or is partial. We must therefore make up our minds to serve God not because of what we want to gain but because of who he is and what he represents.

Prayer: O Lord, help us to be devoted in our service to you.

Topic: Let us not become conceited

Text: Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Galatians 5:26

Dear believer, to become conceited is to become egotistical, boastful and to exhibit excessive pride in one's abilities. We must realize that as a church our strength is in our collective ability and not in individualism. The design is for us to work in unity where everyone contributes their uniqueness to the growth of the church and not a case where one person or group of persons are projected as being superior and all powerful. It is when individualism is projected that conceit creeps in and we start provoking and envying one another. Envy shouldn't have a place in the church or in the midst of believers because it isn't a fruit of the Spirit. Having known these, it is now left for us to do away with conceit, unnecessary provocations and envy so we can focus our energy into advancing the course of the gospel.

Prayer: O Lord, help us not to become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Topic: God's word will continue to spread and flourish

Text: But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.
Acts 12:24

Dear believer, the intention of Herod and the Jews was to ensure that the gospel was no longer preached and that the spread of the word of God would cease. This was why he killed James and afterwards got Peter arrested and jailed but earnest prayers were made by the church on his behalf. Miraculously, Peter got released and after a series of events, Herod died but God's word continued to spread and flourish. Every attempt made to stifle the spread of the gospel and to create fear in the hearts of believers so they stop preaching the name of Jesus has always produced opposite results. The reason is because the message of the gospel cannot be stopped and God would always embolden his children so they'll keep preaching with great power. So dear believer, don't be discouraged or fearful about the persecution against the gospel. Just keep being prayerful and bold in doing the Lord's work because the word of God will continue to spread and flourish.

Prayer: O Lord, embolden your church in the face of persecution and cause your word to continue to spread and flourish.

Topic: Keep on knocking

Text: But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.
Acts 12:16

Dear believer, non stop prayers were offered for the release of Peter and God responded by sending an Angel to set him free from prison. After he had gone past the prison gates and the iron gate leading to the city which opened up to him by miraculous intervention, there was still one more door that needed to be opened to ascertain his total deliverance. And this door needed to be opened by men of flesh and blood and not by divine intervention so Peter knocked and kept on knocking till the believers (men) opened the door. We must realize that after we have prayed and secured divine intervention, we also need men to open certain doors for us. So rather than get discouraged or give up that your blessing is yet to manifest fully, keep knocking in prayers, in building relationships and in developing yourself because it is through men that God will settle you completely.

Prayer: O Lord, help us to keep knocking on doors till they all open to us for the fulfillment of your purpose in our lives.

Topic: Don't keep the door shut

Text: But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.
Acts 12:16

Dear believer, after Peter's arrest, the church kept praying for his release and God miraculously showed up by sending an Angel to set him free against the expectations of Herod and the Jews. However when he got to the house where believers were gathered and praying for him, he kept knocking but the door wasn't open. And even after Rhoda came to answer the door, she didn't open out of excitement that it was Peter and when she reported it to other believers they doubted her. It is possible for us as believers to evangelize to souls and when they become willing to surrender their lives to Jesus we'd shut the door of salvation and fellowship against them. It is also possible for us to pray for deliverance and a great breakthrough and become doubtful and unwilling to acknowledge that God has done it with our unbelief and mindset. Let us not become hindrances to the answer to our prayers through excessive excitement and doubt.

Prayer: O Lord, help us not to become hindrances to the answer to our prayers through doubt and over excitement.

Topic: The Lord is a shield for us

Text: But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
Psalms 3:3

Dear believer, David was a man with many troubles. From tending sheep in the bush where he faced attacks from a Lion and a Bear to being a wanted man as Saul placed him on a watchlist and staged a manhunt for him, he contended with several troubles in his life. But inspite of them all, he enjoyed divine protection as the Lord delivered him from all his troubles. Hence, the reason why he could say the Lord was a shield around him. God also lifted him up from being a lowly shepherd to becoming the king of Israel. He also enjoyed seamless victories in all the battles he engaged in as king as he defeated all his enemies triumphantly. God therefore is the one who lifts the head of men high and also their glory. So let your hope be on God because he is able to take you from nothing to a place of celebration.

Prayer: O Lord, I believe in you that you will be my shield, my glory and the lifter of my head.

Topic: Be discreet and discerning

Text: For I was commanded by the word of the Lord: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.’
1 Kings 13:9

Dear believer, in your dealings with God, you must know what to share in public and what to keep private. It is not all instructions or revelations that God has given you that should be said in public or before anyone no matter how close they are to you or how 'spiritual' they seem. The man of God from Judah probably thought telling the king that God commanded him not to eat bread or drink water or return by the way he came would make him more annointed, respected or save him from temptations. What he didn't realize was it was it that opened him up to temptations which he fell for and paid the price for it. If he had just walked away after delivering the message without revealing personal instructions, the sons of the old prophet wouldn't have heard and reported to their father who later met and deceived him. The devil will only tempt you based on the information he has about you, and to do that sometimes he can come as a saint and rightly so because he often masquerades as an angel of light. So we must be discerning and discreet lest we destroy ourselves with our own mouths.

Prayer: O Lord, help me to be discreet and discerning so I don't reveal what ought to remain private publicly.

Topic: God can lift a man that is down and out

Text: When the people saw him, they praised their god, saying, “Our god has delivered our enemy into our hands, the one who laid waste our land and multiplied our slain.”
Judges 16:24

Dear believer, while the Philistines rejoiced and jubilated before their god that they had captured Samson and gorged out his eyes, they never knew that God is able to lift a man that is down and out. To them, they had prevailed so they rejoiced and humiliated Samson but what they didn't know was that because a man is down it doesn't mean God has abandoned him. So while in his broken and seemingly defeated state, Samson asked the Lord for strength again and God obliged him. When the strength of God comes upon a man he is able to triumph over his enemies even while in captivity. When the strength of God comes upon a man, he is able to achieve in a moment what he never achieved in a lifetime. So don't downplay the importance of the strength of God upon your life. You may be down today, but you're not permitted to remain there. Ask the Lord for new strength and watch him enable you to achieve what you have struggled to achieve in a long time.

Prayer: O Lord, let your strength come upon me mightily to achieve that which I have struggled to achieve.
