Leah’s story reminds us that some of life’s deepest wounds come from feeling unseen by the people we hoped would value us.

Have you ever felt overlooked by someone important to you?

Chapter Three — continued

What nobody tells you about comparison is that it doesn’t stay in the place it begins. It moves. It spreads. It colonizes parts of your thinking that have nothing to do with the original wound.

Leah had started out feeling less beautiful than Rachel, but over time, comparison seeped into everything.

She began to feel less worthy, less interesting, less deserving of good things.

She stopped sharing her opinions, taking up space. She made herself quieter, smaller, and more invisible than ever needed.

…and she called it humility.

But it was not humility; it was erasure, (deleting)...and she was doing it to herself.

This is what prolonged comparison does: it doesn’t just make you feel less than someone else. It makes you treat yourself as less.

You start to overlook yourself before anyone else even has the chance.

Has comparison ever done that to you?

Leah's story doesn’t end here, and neither does yours.

Lord, help us mend broken relationships, forgive where healing is needed, and be present for the people You’ve entrusted to us.

Chapter Three- Watching Her Be Preferred

There is an art to watching the person you love love someone else.

Leah became a master of it.

She learned to watch without appearing to watch. To be present without drawing attention to her presence.
To read the silences between them, the brief looks, the brief touches, the brief smiles
that carried whole conversations she was not part of.

She learned to smile when appropriate. To excuse herself when necessary. To find urgent tasks in other rooms when the ache became too loud….to sit quietly beside.

She was not performing indifference.

She was surviving it.

And the comparisons.
Oh, the comparisons.

Not always spoken out loud.
…but felt in every room.
In the way conversations shifted when Rachel entered.
In the way her own presence barely registered.

She had not lost a competition.
She had never been in one.
The decision had been made before she ever had the chance to try.

If you have ever felt that overlooked before you even had the chance to be seen...this chapter was written for you.

Sometimes, the strongest thing you can do is stop waiting.

Waiting for someone to change.
Waiting to be chosen.
Waiting for the approval, love, or recognition you deserve.

There comes a moment when you realize your worth is not determined by another person’s ability to see it.

Walking away isn’t always giving up. Sometimes it’s choosing self-respect over disappointment, peace over frustration, and purpose over pursuit.

Know your value. Trust God’s timing. Keep moving forward.

The people who are meant to be in your life will not require you to convince them of your worth.

Chapter Two.…continued

She was married.
She was not loved.

And she was beginning to understand that these were two entirely different things.

The worst of it was not the rejection.
It was the proximity.

Living in the same house as the love that was not meant for her.
Watching Jacob look at Rachel the way she had always hoped
someone would one day look at her.

She was in the house.
She was not in the life.

So she did what many of us do when we cannot fix what is broken.

She worked.
She managed.
She was useful.
She made herself indispensable.

….because if she could not be loved,
at least she could be needed.

Does that sound familiar?

Performing competence to cover a quiet ache.
Staying busy so there is no room to feel what you are actually feeling.

Leah is not a woman from thousands of years ago.
She is every woman who has ever made herself smaller
hoping it would make her easier to keep.

But it never does.

And God saw that too.
