On behalf of the world church family, we share our condolences, sympathy, and Christian love with Ruth Kloosterhuis, her sons, and their families on the death of Pastor Robert J Kloosterhuis. Pastor Kloosterhuis was a longtime church administrator who served in Haiti for many years and then was the first president of the Africa-Indian Ocean Division based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. That division has since become the West-Central Africa Division. It was a sad development that just before Pastor Kloosterhuis’ death, another former president of that division, Pastor Luka Tambaya Daniel, also died a few days ago and we have paid tribute to him and his dedicated work.
It was during the time in Abidjan that we became well acquainted with Bob and Ruth Kloosterhuis when we served with them in that division. Pastor Kloosterhuis had a visionary perspective on evangelistic outreach and it was a pleasure and privilege to work with him and Ruth. I learned much from him. He was ahead of his time in relation to technology and was very efficient. His and Ruth’s great emphasis was saving souls for Jesus and through His power. Pastor Kloosterhuis later served as a General Vice President at the General Conference.
We salute Pastor Kloosterhuis’ dedicated service to God’s Advent movement. Soon we will see him again, by God’s grace, when Christ will come in the clouds of heaven to take us home! What a day that will be!”
