I am beyond grateful to have had my local congregation recommend me to stand before the national board, and now to have the national board’s blessing.

It has felt like home since the beginning — and still does.

Please join with us in congratulating and welcoming our newest commissioned minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Canada, Pastor Kenton Sefcik.

Pastor Kenton has been serving at West Gore Disciple Church while earning his master of divinity at Acadia Divinity College. Pastor Kenton grew up in Alberta, but is now a longtime Nova Scotian. He continues to work as a professional acupuncturist while studying and serving. He brings to ministry a lifetime of deep spiritual curiosity, strong interfaith relationships, and a passion for helping others. He is married to Marsha, an interior designer, and they have two young adult children in university. A celebration of his commission will be scheduled and announced soon.

Yesterday, at our Fifth Sunday Ecumenical Service, Rev. Kent Greer preached a sermon on Matthew 28:16-20 – where the disciples are directed to a mountain, and Jesus commissions them with the task of making disciples of all nations.

Anglican Reverend Kent Greer will be preaching, I'll be leading prayers of the people, and Pastor Seth Moore is going to hold it all together!

We are also very grateful for each church's choir. It is quite a treat to have everyone singing together.

I want to congratulate Pastor Andrew Taylor on his ordination by Lawrencetown United Baptist Church — that occurred this past Saturday.

I didn’t start my MDiv with the intention of getting behind the pulpit, but God had other plans. When it came time for my first preach, Andrew was there to supervise, guide, and encourage. Over the years, Andrew has spent many hours with me, pouring his spirit and experience into my ministry, and I am so very grateful.

It was an honour to be asked to lay hands on Andrew during the service. I pray that Andrew is able to serve his congregation for many, many years to come.

Please help me in wishing Nancy Doane - mother, wife, friend, schoolteacher, music instructor, vocalist, garden club member, and our pianist at West Gore Disciple Church - a very happy 90th birthday!

Let us pray,
Lord, we come before you as witnesses to 90 years lived on your earth. So many of us have been blessed by your creation - blessed to know Nancy. And so we give thanks to you, O Lord, for giving us a good one. We pray for your hand to continue to be upon her life until you call her home.
