Words of Welcome………...... Theme Introduction

*Hymn VU # 820 Psalm 100

Opening Prayer
We enter this space, singing different songs:
sometimes in the same key and sometimes not;
sometimes in rhythm, sometimes syncopated, and sometimes not.
Gather our songs, O God, and transform them into your song.
Gather us, your children, and form us once again into 21st century discipleship:
always as your loving and loved people; your hands and feet in this world,
eager to dance according to your tune. Amen

Personal Prayer [sung …… moment for silent prayer]
MV # 21 Open our hearts, open our minds.
Open our lives to you O loving God. [repeat]
2nd time conclude with
Open our hearts…………….

Prayers for others……. Regional/Ecumenical. /Intercultural
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

HEARTS that LISTEN

Reflection God’s Intercultural Calling;
Our Portable Treasures

Hebrew Scripture Story Genesis 18: 1-15

*VU # 624 Give to Us Laughter
Give to us laughter, O Source of our life.
Laughter can banish so much of our strife.
Laughter and love give us wholeness and health.
Laughter and love are the coin of true wealth.

Give to us laughter as sign of deep joy;
let us in laughing find Christian employ,
joining with stars and with bright northern lights,
laughing and praising and sharing delights.

Why do we worry that we will lose face?
Why act like king for the whole human race?
Often in family, and often with friend,
laughing at pride causes anguish to end.

Even in sorrow and hours of grief,
laughter with tears brings most healing relief.
God, give us laughter, and God, give us peace,
joys of your promise among us increase.
words: Walter Farquharson; music Ron Klusmeier 1974

Gospel Scripture Story Matthew 9: 35-10: 8

VU # 563 Jesus, You Have Come to the Lakeshore
Words and music Cesdrea Gabardin in 1979, translated fr. Spanish to English
by Gertrude C. Suppe, George Lockwood, and Raquel Guiterrez–Achon in 1987

Jesus, you have come to the lakeshore looking neither for wealthy nor wise ones;
You only asked me to follow humbly.
Refrain:
O Jesus, with your eyes you have searched me,
and while smiling, have spoken my name;
now my boat’s left, on the shoreline behind me;
by your side.... I will seek other seas.”
p.3
You--know so well my possessions;
my boat carries no gold and no weapons;
You will find there my nets and labour. [refrain]

You--need my hands, full of caring
through my labours to give others rest,
and constant love that keeps on loving. [refrain]

You-- who have fished other oceans,
ever longed for by souls who are waiting,
my loving friend, as thus you call me: [refrain]

Early Church’s Story Romans 5: 1-8

Prayer in Song VU #371 Open My Eyes, That I May See
music/words Clara H. Fiske Scott 1895

Open my eyes that I may see glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
place in my hands the wonderful key that shall unclasp and set me free.

[refrain]
Silently now I wait for Thee, ready, my God, Thy will to see.
Open my eyes,…. [ ears] [heart] illumine me, Spirit Divine!

Open my ears that I may hear voices of truth thou sendest clear;
and while the wave notes fall on my ear, everything false will disappear.[refrain]

Open my mouth and let me bear gladly the warm truth everywhere;
Open my heart and let me prepare love with thy children thus to share.[refrain]

HEARTS that RESPOND

Mission and Service Story “Making Joyful Noise”

Our Offerings
*MV # 191 What Can I Do ? [an echo song]
words & music Paul Rumbolt and Michele
arrangement Alan C WhitmoreMcCarthy2005
What can I do? What can I bring? What can I say? What can I sing?
I’ll sing with joy. I’ll say a prayer. I’ll bring my love. I’ll do my share.

*Commissioning p.4
Christ has no body but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours the eyes,
with which he looks in compassion on this world.
Yours the feet,
with which he walks to do good.
Yours are the hands,
with which he blesses the world.
Yours are the hands,
yours are the feet,
yours are the eyes,
you are his body.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
Teresa of Avila [1515-1582]

*Choral Benediction Go Now in Peace
music: Don Besig; lyrics: Don Besig& Nancy Price 1988
Go now in peace. Never be afraid.
God will go with you each hour of every day.
Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true.
Know God will guide you in all you do.
Go now in love, and show you believe.
Reach out to others so all the world can see.
God will be there watching from above.
Go now in peace, in faith, and in love. Amen. Amen. Amen.
