LEAD LIKE JESUS
Leading like Jesus means elders view their positions not as titles of power, but as calls to humble servanthood and sacrificial care. They are to shepherd the congregation by modelling Christ-like character and putting the spiritual well-being of the flock ahead of their own interests. Elders are to:

Embody Servant Leadership: Rather than acting as domineering rulers, elders lead through humility, just as Jesus washed the disciples' feet to demonstrate selfless service.

Model the Way: They are called to live exemplary lives that the congregation can imitate, guiding by example and influence rather than force or manipulation.

Protect and Nurture: True spiritual leaders guard their flock against falsehoods and actively care for the vulnerable, following the model of Jesus the Good Shepherd.

Equip the Saints: Instead of doing all the ministry themselves, elders empower church members to discover and use their own spiritual gifts.

Join us this Sunday for corporate worship and the installation of a new team of elders at Christ Community Church. We hope that you will be able to attend and share in this special celebration!

"To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock." ~1 Peter 5:1-3

JOEL (A study through the Minor Prophets)

The Book of Joel uses a devastating plague of locusts as a wake-up call, urging the people of Judah to repent of their sins. The prophet warns of an impending Day of the Lord, a time of severe divine judgment against evil. He promises that if the nation truly returns to God with sincere sorrow, God will be compassionate and restore their physical blessings. Ultimately, Joel prophesies a glorious future when God will pour out His Holy Spirit upon all people.

“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate. ~Joel 2:12-13

HOSEA
The Book of Hosea tells the story of a prophet commanded by God to marry an unfaithful wife, which serves as a powerful metaphor for God's relationship with Israel. Just as Hosea's wife strayed, the nation of Israel continually turned its back on God to worship false idols. Although this spiritual adultery brought strict discipline and devastating judgment upon the people, God’s deep love for them remained unbreakable. Ultimately, the book is a message of unfailing redemption, showcasing a merciful God who relentlessly pursues His people to forgive and restore them.

“The Lord said to me, ‘Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her as the Lord loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods...’” Hosea 3:1

JONATHAN AND HIS ARMOUR BEARER
The story of Jonathan and his armour bearer teaches us that God can accomplish great victories through even the smallest number of faithful people. It highlights the immense power of bold, unwavering faith in God rather than relying on human strength or large armies. It also demonstrates the importance of loyalty, mutual encouragement, and spiritual unity when facing intimidating challenges. Ultimately, we learn that taking a courageous first step can inspire others and invite God to work wonders. Join us this Sunday as we worship together and learn from this inspiring story from 1 Samuel 14!

“Let’s go across to (their) outpost...” Jonathan said to his armour bearer. “Perhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord. 1 JOHN - The Book of Love (Continued)
1 John 3–5 highlights the transformative love of God, calling believers to live as his children by practicing righteousness and loving one another sacrificially. John urges readers to test all spiritual offerings to ensure they align with the truth of Jesus Christ. The letter also emphasizes that true faith in the Son of God overcomes the world, offering assurance of eternal life. Come and be encouraged by God's good news of everlasting love this Sunday as we worship Him together!

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 JOHN - The Book of Love
1 John is a pastoral letter written to confirm believers in their faith, emphasizing that true fellowship with God is characterized by walking in the light rather than darkness. John instructs believers to abide in Christ, obey His commandments, and avoid sin, marking a life of active love over selfish desires. It challenges our source choices when it comes to seeking truth. And it ultimately assures Christians that they have eternal life and can have confidence in their relationship with God through love and faithful obedience. Join us this Sunday as we continue studying John's teachings through an overview of his subsequent teachings found in 1 John.

"We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. JOSHUA: BE STRONG & COURAGEOUS
After rescuing His people from slavery in Egypt, providing food for them in the wilderness, and faithfully guiding them day and night, God was ready to bring His people into their own land, a land flowing with milk and honey. A land prepared just for them. To enter the land, however, God’s people would have to be strong and courageous by trusting that He is with them. Rather than trusting in their own human strength and ability, their victory would come from trusting He is with them. Join us this Sunday as we worship a God who says, "never will I leave you or forsake you.” and who is "a refuge in times of trouble."

JOHN'S CONCLUSION
John 21 serves as an epilogue to the Gospel of John, detailing a post-resurrection appearance where Jesus meets his disciples by the Sea of Galilee and performs a miracle of providing a massive catch of fish. After breakfast, Jesus reconciles with Peter by asking him three times if he loves him, countering Peter’s three denials and commissioning him to "feed my sheep". The chapter concludes by confirming Peter’s future martyrdom and emphasizing the truth of the "beloved disciple's" testimony, noting that Jesus did many other things not recorded in the book. You are invited to be encouraged this Sunday by Jesus' loving reinstatement of Peter to be on gospel mission.

Come join us as we continue our journey with spiritual formation practices, and explore the gift of Sabbath—a sacred invitation to stop, rest, and rediscover the joy of simply being with God. In a world that constantly pushes us to do more, this sermon will gently guide us into an “undoing,” where we learn to delight, trust, and live from a place of rest rather than striving. Together, we’ll begin again at the beginning, making room to experience God’s loving presence and the deep formation that happens, moment by moment, as we practice being with Him.

JESUS THE CORNERSTONE
As the chief cornerstone, Jesus serves as the essential, foundational stone upon which God’s entire spiritual house—the church—is built and aligned. While rejected by human builders, he was chosen by God as the precious, solid rock that holds all believers together, ensuring stability and strength. By basing our lives on Jesus as the cornerstone, we secure a firm foundation that will not fail, allowing us to grow into a holy temple in the Lord. ("The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone." ~Psalm 118:22) Join us this Sunday as we worship God together, knowing that Christ is our firm foundation! We're also looking forward to having Gary Gallant from Christ Central Church (Fredericton) serve as our guest speaker.
