JESUS >
Hebrews 1 & 2 powerfully proclaim that Jesus Christ is the ultimate and final revelation of God to humanity. While God spoke through prophets in the past, He has now spoken definitively through His Son, the creator and sustainer of the entire universe. The writer emphasizes Jesus' supreme divinity, showing that He is the exact representation of God's being and far superior to any angelic being. Ultimately, these opening chapters establish Christ's eternal throne and His completed work of purifying us from sin. Join us this Sunday as we start a new series on Hebrews, encouraging us to embrace the truth that Jesus is "superior".

"In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe." ~Hebrews 1:1-2

400 YEARS OF SILENCE
The 'intertestamental' period is the roughly 400-year gap between the Old and New Testaments, often called the "silent years" because no biblical prophets wrote during this time. Far from empty, this era saw massive political upheaval as control of Israel shifted from the Persian Empire to Alexander the Great, followed by self-governing Jewish kings and eventually Roman conquest. These shifting empires forced major cultural adaptations, including the translation of Hebrew scriptures into Greek and the rise of local synagogues for community worship. Ultimately, this chaotic period laid the vital historical, political, and religious groundwork that shaped the world Jesus entered in the New Testament Gospels. Join us this Sunday as we explore the story of 'silence' and its significance for our lives today.

THE FINAL WORD
The Book of Malachi is the final book of the Old Testament, written when the Jewish people had returned to Jerusalem but grown spiritually lazy and cynical. Through a series of debates, God confronts the people and their religious leaders for offering cheap sacrifices, breaking marriage promises, and refusing to support the temple. Despite their constant rebellion, God reassures them of His unchanging love and calls them to return to obedience and trust that the best is yet to come. We hope you can join us as we finish our focus on the minor prophets that have much to say about our relationship with God today!

POWERFUL PROPHECY
The book of Zechariah uses vivid prophetic visions to point directly to Jesus Christ as the promised Messiah. It highlights the humble King arriving on a donkey and the pierced shepherd who brings true spiritual cleansing. These ancient symbols reveal God's plan to save humanity through a suffering servant. Ultimately, Zechariah calls believers to return to God, rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, and look ahead to Jesus Christ and his eternal, victorious kingdom! ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty." ~Zechariah 4:6

THE GOODNESS OF GOD
True goodness is active, merciful and generous, as displayed through the life of Boaz in Ruth 2. Boaz acts with great kindness toward Ruth by going beyond basic rules to care for her and protect her from harm. His example points to God's loving heart, one that provides for the needs and vulnerabilities of others. God, who is perfectly good, turns sorrow into joy and faithful hope. Everyone is invited to join us for our morning worship service this Sunday to worship our good God together and hear more about this uplifting message! "Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever." ~ 1 Chronicles 16:34

FROM THIS DAY ON
In chapter 2, the prophet Haggai brings a sharp message from God to the people who returned to rebuild the temple. He uses a quick quiz with the priests to show a deep truth: bad habits spread fast, but holy living does not rub off on others the same way. Even though the people were busy working on God's house, their hearts still needed a real cleanup. This Sunday we will look at how stopping to check our hearts allows God to turn our wayward past into a bright and rewarding future. “From this day on I will bless you." ~Haggai 2:19

FIRST THINGS FIRST
Is worshipping God our highest priority? Haggai sought to challenge the people of God concerning their priorities. He called the returned exiles to rebuild the worship centre in spite of both external and internal opposition. God rebukes the people for focusing on the decoration of their own houses while His house is waiting to be restored. ("Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your panelled houses, while this house remains a ruin?" ~Haggai 1:4). He strongly urged them to turn from their misguided ways, to courageously trust in God’s sovereign power, and trust that God would provide for their every need. Join us this Sunday as we make worship God and offer Him our highest praise!

THE BOOKS OF NAHUM & HABAKKUK
Join us this Sunday at 10am as we worship Almighty God together, bringing Him our honour and praise through singing and sharing! We will also be continuing our summer sermon series through the minor prophets, focusing on the books of Nahum and Habakkuk that highlight God's promises of justice and restoration. "Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known". ~Habakkuk 3:2

THE BOOK OF MICAH
Christ Community Church welcomes you to worship God with us this Sunday! We will be continuing our summer series through the minor prophets, specifically looking at Micah and the topic of God's mercy. How does a holy God respond to injustice, corruption, and sin? Micah speaks boldly against the leaders, prophets, and people of Israel and Judah for their rebellion against God. Yet his message is not only one of judgment, but of God’s remarkable mercy.

“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.”
‭‭Micah‬ ‭7‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

THE BOOK OF JONAH
You are invited to Christ Community Church this Sunday! We will be continuing our summer series through the minor prophets with a brief reflection on Obadiah's vision and a deeper dive into the book of Jonah. God commanded the prophet Jonah to warn the wicked city of Nineveh of impending judgment, but Jonah fled in the opposite direction. After a severe storm forced him overboard, God saved him using a giant fish. Once safely on land, a reluctant Jonah preached to Nineveh, which immediately repented and was spared. This divine mercy angered Jonah, teaching him a final lesson about God's boundless compassion.

"...for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love..." ~Jonah 4:2
