SERGEANT SAWYER CHARITY FIGURE

This new model represents our illustrious and beloved co-founder, Paul Sawyer. Paul has sadly been forced to step away from Warlord Games due to a serious illness, but we wanted to commemorate and celebrate his incredible career and passion for our hobby with a special figure. Shown in British Airborne uniform, a nod to the many, many Red Devils he’s painted over the years, Sergeant Sawyer is our tribute to a man without whom Warlord Games would simply not exist, and our lives be far the poorer. 💞

All proceeds from the sale of this figure will go to The Brain Tumour Charity, an incredibly worthy cause chosen by Paul himself.

Last call for terrain for Astro 2019

Hi folks - just wanted to remind everyone that, if you were interested in bringing some cool terrain to the event and competing for the Best Terrain award, we're down to the crunch.

Currently we have confirmed contributions from a number of folks and some others awaiting confirmation.

But if you have not yet confirmed with me, please let me know ASAP as there is logistical work to assigning scenarios and narratives and the like to the terrain that has to be done before the event.

Hope to hear from you!

Mike M. Astro Guy.

Christian Augst and I did our annual hidden setup Apocalypse game at Maxximus today. It was great fun and a victory for Mortarion and his corrupted Knights!

Close run game too.

Overall, of each of the factions, the one which scored the highest (on average) was the Xenos Ultima group, led by the Necrons. As such, here is Adept Herelor's final message from Quadrime...

They had always told us to fear the Xenos.

They did not tell us often enough. Or say it strongly enough.

How this happened I do not know. Were the humans and traitors exhausted from making war upon one another? Were the forces of the Emperor simply not strong enough? There is no peace with these creatures. No negotiation. They destroy the world rather than hold it. The skies are black with pollution and war and monsters stalk the forests. No one, not man, not woman, not child is safe.

There is nothing but slaughter and our best hope is to die quickly. Emperor save us all.

Getting down to the wire now for terrain.

Hi folks, we've a lot of folks bringing some lovely terrain, but we do still have some slots open for terrain if someone would like to bring a table for the Best Terrain competition (or just to help us out or show off your cool table!)

Here's what we're looking for at this time:

Temperate/Generic
Temperate/Generic
Industrial
Temperate/Generic
Desert with tall central bldg
Temperate/Generic

So - that's four 'Temperate/Generic' terrain types. The scenarios for these tables are such that all kinds of terrain could work. Temperate 'normal' type terrain will work, but so could wasteland, snow, etc. etc. The scenarios are such that they will work with pretty close to anything.

The Desert one with a tall building at the center is for the 'X Factor' scenario (Vindicare 3rd party). It could also be ash waste or similar, or even snow in a pinch.

The Industrial/city terrain is for 'Raid on Mars' which we haven't done in several years. It's a cool scenario and involves Adeptus Mechanicus forces.

Anyone able to assist? Perhaps with help from your local friendly game store? We will be sure to credit all terrain on the table cards etc.

We can manage these ourselves if we have to, but it means flying with terrain which is a logistics nightmare, so we'd appreciate the assist if it can be managed.

Thank you!

Next up - FAQs etc.

Xian and I reviewed these the other night, specifically the 40k 'Big FAQ'.

After a careful read we've decided to use pretty much everything in it (yes including the Beta rules) with the exception of the very last section on events - that last being excepted as we have our own write up for army selection etc. on our website.

Note that on the 'soup' stuff, nothing stops you from taking different faction types in different detachments (Say an Inquisitor and retinue in one detachment and a unit of Deathwatch Space marines in another). You just cannot 'soup' WITHIN detachments.

After some discussion we felt that this was a pretty reasonable compromise. If you want the flexibility of different kinds of units, they need to be in their own detachments.

Questions welcome.
