Weather alert:
The Chavurat Tefila Talmud Torah directors have reviewed the present weather predictions for tomorrow morning. It will be very cold. Present predictions are that the temperature will be -31 (feels like -34) at about the time we would be setting out on our way to shul. In addition it is expected that there will be slippery conditions for walking and driving.

Preferring to err on the side of safety, we will NOT be having services tomorrow. Do not come to the shul.

The good news is that conditions are expected to moderate by next week and the full sponsored kiddush that had been scheduled for this week will be postponed until then.

A Moment of Gratitude and Joy — Shehecheyanu

Dear Friends,

As we gather to celebrate Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah, we do so this year with hearts that are especially full.
Today, we join the people of Israel and Jews around the world in giving thanks for the release of the hostages from Gaza — a moment of relief, gratitude, and renewed hope.

In that spirit, we recite together the blessing of Shehecheyanu, acknowledging God’s gift of life, endurance, and the ability to reach this season:

ברוך אתה ה׳ אלוקינו מלך העולם, שהחיינו וקיימנו והגיענו לזמן הזה
Baruch Atah Ado-shem Elokeinu Melech Ha’olam,
Shehecheyanu, v’kiy’manu, v’higi’anu la’zman ha’zeh.

Blessed are You, Lord our God, Ruler of the universe,
who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this season.

May this moment strengthen our faith, renew our sense of unity, and remind us of the power of hope and freedom.

Chag Sameach,
Chavurat Tefilah Talmud Torah Congregation
