Hello Folks,

In the past number of years it has become poignantly obvious that our knowledge of our own history is too often woefully lacking. Many of you will understand this when you reflect on the history we have learned because of the work of Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Today, Transcona Memorial United Church has the opportunity and privilege to provide information about other lesser known history by hosting the "Here from the Beginning" exhibit.

"Here from the Beginning" is a traveling exhibition "that shares seldom-told stories and histories of Black people and communities in The United Church of Canada. It showcases the contributions and experiences of Black people within the church, amplifying voices that have long been overshadowed by the dominant narrative."

"Here from the Beginning is an English/French bilingual exhibit comprised of free-standing pull-up double-sided vinyl banners. "Here from the Beginning" is a free, self-guided exhibit that will be showing at Transcona Memorial (209 Yale Avenue West in Winnipeg) during the following times:

Sunday, October 25: 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday, October 26: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, October 27: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, October 28: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 29: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Friday, October 30: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 31: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Groups are welcome. Bookings are not necessary. The TMUC building is accessible. Outside food and beverages are allowed.

For more information about the "Here from the Beginning" exhibit at TMUC please contact the church (204-222-1331 or [email protected])

Blessings,
Rob.
