Calvary Chapel Winnipeg: A Church Rooted in the Jesus Revolution

Hey there, folks! Today, we’re taking a closer look at Calvary Chapel Winnipeg, also known as Radiant Church. Did you get a chance to see this movie ?

If you didn’t today is the last day it’s showing in theatres in Winnipeg.

You should make it happen! I’ve seen it 3x in this past week and cried, laughed and cheered each time. It’s not like other Christain movies that have sanitized characters with no flaws or human failings revealed. It’s more raw, real life struggle to find meaning of life by salvation through Jesus!

This movie is so dear to my heart for a number of reasons.
1) my dad was a drug addict in BC and was handed a bible tract. He stuck it in his pocket, but later when the drugs wore off pulled it out, believed, was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit right there in his room.
Then he heard about the Jesus Revolution in California and hitch hiked (did I mention he was a hippie) to California. He ended up living in a commune house, where he met my mom.
My mom was in California for college and heard a band Jesus singing and was drawn to it, also asking Jesus into her heart. My parents married 3 weeks after meeting and I was born 9 months later.
2) Fast forward to today and my husband is the pastor of Radiant Church and we are apart of the Calvary Chapel Association.
So it’s kinda like a double origin story for me.
If you aren’t able to see the movie in the theatre, then I encourage you to find it on a streaming platform when that is available (not sure when /where yet).
Also, if you live in Winnipeg, and either don’t have a church or your church doesn’t preach the bible chapter by chapter, verse by verse, then I encourage you to come visit us on Sunday - or find a bible believing church near you and Go to it!
God says in Hebrews 10:25
“Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near”
My prayer is this movie will gather the scattered, save the lost and wake up the believers to a renewed passion for more of Jesus & the Holy Spirit in our lives.
