St. Andrew's River Heights United Church Our History

St. Andrew's River Heights had its start near downtown Winnipeg, on the corner of Elgin Ave. and Ellen St.

Our Vision

To live as Christ would have us live, in love, with compassion and seeking justice, by sharing God’s grace, learning from scripture, growing through the Spirit and being transformed by faith. Organized as a Presbyterian church in 1881, the old St. Andrew's was noted from the beginning for its outspoken preachers and activity in missionary and other outreach activities.

In the tw

entieth century's first decade, however, the congregation began moving to the suburbs. Its 850 members were soon scattered across the city. They particularly favored the new residential neighborhood of River Heights immediately south of the Assiniboine River.

The choir at St. Andrew’s River Heights is welcoming new members in all parts!
We are an affirming congregation, and the choir sings most Sundays from September-May, as well as at special events and concerts.
Rehearsals are Thursday evenings, starting September 10.
