Lutheran and Anglican churches across Canada are invited to mark 25 years of full communion in Sunday worship on July 5. National Bishop Larry Kochendorfer and Primate Shane Parker have issued a joint statement with a prayer for the occasion.

PLEASE PRAY URGENTLY — Venezuela has been rocked by two massive earthquakes and initial reports suggest massive devastation. We are in touch with our partners at The Lutheran World Federation and will share more soon about what we hear. Please pray for the people of Venezuela and for the first responders who are trying to save lives in these critical hours.

God of Grace,
Draw near to the people of Venezuela in this hour of fear and grief. Protect those who are trapped, injured or searching for loved ones. Strengthen first responders, medical teams and all who are working to save lives. Comfort the mourning, steady the afraid and move the world to respond with compassion and urgency.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Amen.
