We were privileged today not only to have Diocesan Elder and Knowledge Keeper Amanda McKenzie preach to us about Creation Care for Trinity Sunday, but to do a smudge/blessing of our Survivors’ Flag as well.

St. Peter’s 70th Anniversary Memory (submitted by Tom T)

68 years of considering St. Peter’s home, you can only imagine how many memories were cultivated. But the most vivid for me and some older parishioners was my time as the Angel Gabrielle in the Christmas pageant, whichin the day was an unrehearsed impromptu event utilizing whomever attended the service and props like bathroom carpets and sheepskin to create the flock, as well as whatever dressed the players from a basket of materials and a scouting staff for whomever should have a walking stick. The three wise men carried vessels from someone’s home and the Christmas Story was read to guide the “performers” actions. A humble, simple, heartfelt, moving, MEMORABLE performance.

Our bishop, Right Reverend Naboth Manzongo, and Rev. Jason Zinko, the bishop of Manitoba Northwestern Ontario Synod for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, share a message of affirmation, celebration and reflection as Winnipeg enters into Pride Week 2026.

St. Peter’s 70th Anniversary Memory (submitted by Marcus L)

I had the dubious distinction of being on Corporation when the pandemic struck. On March 16, 2020, the Bishop of Rupert’s Land issued a directive suspending all in-person worship in the diocese. We missed one Sunday’s worship, but by the following Sunday we’d collaborated with Soul Sanctuary to use technology so our congregation could continue worship. In the weeks and months that followed, key people in the parish figured out social media and online meeting technology to continue online worship on our own. Eventually, we invested in a new sound and video system — assisted through a grant from the Anglican Foundation of Canada — to facilitate hybrid worship, a practice we carry through to this day. Our worship is not simply broadcast; online attendees participate with readings, intercessions and more, for the benefit of the in-building attendees.

There are two lessons I take from this experience: (1) the pandemic proved to us that ‘church’ is not a building; it is people, and (2) the people of St. Peter’s are resilient and resourceful.

St. Peter’s 70th Anniversary Memory (submitted by Kerry T)

Ten years ago, I walked through the doors of St. Peter’s church and was immediately greeted by Caroline L. who warmly welcomed me and briefly showed me around. I was no sooner through the entrance into the church proper than Cori D. welcomed me and once again, I got the ‘lay of the land’ and I started to attend regularly on Sundays. A few weeks later (then rector) Donna Joy asked me if I’d like to meet for coffee. We met that week at a Tim Hortons that turned into a three hour coffee date. A month later it was announced that there was going to be a wine and cheese evening for the people who were new attendees. I received a personal invitation in the mail. I attended and had a lovely evening with new and long time church members. The welcome that I experienced was truly remarkable. I was made to feel welcome and I still feel this to this day.

Our parish spring food drive for St. Thomas Anglican, Weston was a great success. Thank you to everyone who donated! Members of our Outreach Ministry Team delivered many, many boxes of food and other household goods on Wednesday, April 29th. Meredith Robinson, who runs the kitchen and food donations, was happy to receive them.
