It was a blacksmith’s common practice to use one piece of metal to sharpen another. This process could be hot, messy and sparks would fly. In the end, however, the second metal was sharper and useful once again. In a similar way, Proverbs says we are to be iron to other believers. Our words, prayers, love and accountability will help them become sharp and ready for God’s use.
