If you're in the neighbourhood, feel welcome to join us today from 9-11am for a time of prayer in support of Orange Shirt Day / National Day of Truth and Rconciliation events.

891 St. Mary's Rd

Today is Canada's first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation! Are you wondering why orange shirts have become the symbol for this day? Phyllis Webstad shares about her first day at St. Joseph’s Residential School in Williams Lake, BC (1973). Today is a day of honouring survivors of the residential schools, acknowledging the wrong doing that has caused so much pain, and committing to doing better. It begins with the willingness to listen and learn. https://youtu.be/E3vUqr01kAk

This morning, we are joined by Eric Friesen, who will be speaking to us about Matthew 6:24-34 and Psalm 13. He says, "Worry, worry, worry. We all experience it from time to time. Even the most laid back person has some small sense of worry in their life. Worry plagues us all to some degree, and there are a number of reasons to explain why. We invest our heart into something, anything, and we begin to worry about it. But it's not God's design. What is worry? What do you own? Is it different from what God owns? Do you trust God?"

This Sunday, we are joined by Eric Friesen, who runs a service called Lead Freely, designed to help individuals, organizations and churches discover their personal wealth in their gifts and abilities, both for the workplace and personal life. Eric has served as a pastor in a variety of different settings, currently with Church of The Way, and, this morning, will be speaking to us about Matthew 6:24-34 and Psalm 13. This Sunday, we will have a Liturgical service on the Pentecost, using the Lectio Devina style, led by Jayne Van der Zaag. We will be reflecting on the following passages: Acts 2:1-21, 1 Corinthians 12: 3-13 and John 20: 19-23.

We will reflect in silence on these questions:
1. What is this passage telling me about God?
2. What is this Scripture telling me about myself?
3. What is God trying to say to me right now?
4. What does this Scripture have to say about the ministry of GNF at this time?

We will also share Communion together so please bring your bread, and juice/wine.

This Sunday, we celebrate Easter via Zoom. Please bring some bread and juice/wine to our Zoom call as John Parsons will lead us through communion virtually together. We will be hearing a message from Bob Van Aertselaer.

“There are few events so misunderstood, trivialized, and falsified as the resurrection of Christ. Nothing makes sense without an understanding of the resurrection, yet even the phrase - Risen from the dead - pitches us into the realm of the impossible” Donald Spoto The Hidden Jesus - A New Life

As we once again explore the amazing narrative of the resurrection of Jesus we will do so through the insights of the theologian and biographer Donald Spoto.
