"And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh." (John 6:51)

This Sunday's reflection invites us to contemplate the mystery of a God who comes close—not only in spirit, but in flesh and blood.

Through Scripture, Susan K. Roll reflects on intimacy, belonging, and the sacred gift of embodied life. As we celebrate Corpus Christi, may we be renewed in our awareness that we are nourished by Christ and called into communion with one another.

When Stephen Colbert's Late Show was cancelled, many saw it as the end of a popular comedy program. But Sr. Veronica Dunne saw something else in its final moments.

In our latest blog article, inspired by a joyful performance of the Beatles' Hello Goodbye, she reflects on truth, dissent, hope, and Pope Francis' call to create a culture of encounter.

"Hello, hello. I don't know why you say goodbye. I say hello."

I have been an episodic viewer of “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert. When his program was cancelled by CBS, I began recording his remaining shows.

For Trinity Sunday, Susan K. Roll reflects on creation, chaos, water, birth, and the profound goodness of the cosmos.

Moving from Genesis and ancient creation stories to the mystery of human birth itself, this reflection invites us to reconsider darkness and water not as symbols of fear, but as places of nourishment, protection, and new life.

“The story of the creation of the cosmos… is actually the story of every single individual who ever lived on the earth.”

We have inherited ancient stories of the origins of the cosmos, or at least of this particular planet — stories of “how it all began.”

What kind of consciousness lives behind the eyes of an octopus?
In our latest blog article, author Bonnie Dickie's fear of octopuses slowly turns into wonder while exploring their astonishing intelligence, mystery, adaptability, and strange capacity for connection. From escaping aquariums to solving puzzles to recognizing human beings, octopuses challenge what we think we know about minds, emotion, and the natural world.

I know nothing about octopuses and am actually frightened of them. Despite my misgivings, I found myself immersed in the world of cephalopods.

At Pentecost, the Spirit does not divide, exclude or silence.
The Spirit opens doors, transcends fear, and gives voice to all.

In this reflection for Pentecost, Susan K. Roll explores the contrasting Gospel accounts of the coming of the Holy Spirit — from John’s gentle breath of peace to Luke’s rushing wind that crosses every human boundary.

A thoughtful reflection on freedom, inclusion, and the “democracy of the Spirit.”

Luke and John tell very different stories of Pentecost, and we get to hear them stacked up against each other this week.

Amid the constant news of environmental loss and uncertainty, a quiet story of healing can open our hearts to hope.

The return of Africa’s elephant herds, the restoration of oceans, and the resilience of creation remind us that renewal is possible. Hope is not naïve optimism; it is a deeply rooted trust that healing is already unfolding in ways both visible and hidden.

As we celebrate Pentecost, may we recognize the Spirit moving through all of creation, inspiring courage, collaboration, and the gentle persistence needed to care for our common home.

Hope is wild and contagious.

Professors have been complaining about the use of AI in the research papers submitted by students. The ethical question is, “Is this acceptable?”
