"Different perspectives" - a reflection
My youngest son was eager to help me unwrap this beautiful flower bouquet I made at the women's night last night.
I took a picture, then he insisted on taking one.
I was honestly very amazed looking at the picture he took, and it made me stop and see the world from his eyes for a second.
He is only 3, so he physically sees the world much lower than I do. These pictures reflect that.
The different perspectives also showcase the beauty of the flowers in two ways: one from above seeing the larger bouquet, one from lower down displaying specific details.
And I thought: what a wonderful metaphor for the different gifts and perspectives each one of us has in the Church.
Maybe our differences are the time we've spent in church. If you're newer to the faith, you see things with fresher eyes.
Maybe the differences are in life experience, socio-economic status, or growing up outside of North America.
The Bible also talks about the body of Christ being made up of many parts (1 Cor 12) and each having a unique role to play.
Maybe your gifting is not in the spotlight, but behind the scenes. Does that make it any less valuable? Of course not!
Just because my son and I see the world in two different ways, does that make either of us wrong? No!
I am thankful for this little moment with my son today, and these beautiful flowers. Their reminder of connection, community, and the value that each of us have because (and not in spite) of the fact that we are all different.
