TOPIC: THE POSSIBILITY OF FALLING FROM GRACE
TEXT: Hebrews 10:24-31; 6:4-8; 2 Peter 2:20-22; 3:17
MEMORY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 10:12

SUBJECTMATTER
Salvation Is by Grace
Adam fell through sin in the Garden of Eden. Through Adam, all persons became sinners -Rom. 5:12. 19: 1 Cor.15:22. The standard of God's righteousness was set in the law that God gave through Moses and every person found himself incapable of satisfying the righteousness of God through the law-Rom.3:23; Act 13:39.
God sent His Son Jesus Christ to become man and died on the cross as a penalty for sin-John 3:1 6; and Jesus Christ became the only way to God the father- John 14:6. Through Christ, God freely gave every person the privilege of coming to Him- John 6:37. Thus, salvation became a free gift from God to all persons by grace -Rom. 5:15-18; Eph. 2:8. This grace is called the saving grace.

The saving grace, therefore, is defined as the underserved, unearned, and unmerited favour of God granted to a repented sinner to be saved, It is
➢ underserved because sinners deserve the wrath of God- Rom. 9:22
➢ unearned for man cannot earn this grace by works-Eph. 2: 1-9
➢ unmerited for there is nothing in man that merit it- Rom. 3:23-25

Meaning of Falling from
1. It is not a mere falling into sin for those who confess their sins receive pardon; but a willful and habitual playing with sin that leads to being scornful, thereby deriding the salvation of Christ-Ps. 1:1, Heb. 10:26
2. It is sliding into a position where there is no salvation- 2 Pet. 2:20- 21, Heb.10:26
3. It means to abandon the work of Christ; considering it not sufficient for a person's justification-Gal. 5:4.
4. It is getting into a position where Christ is of no effect- Gal. 5:4
5. It is making Christ of no profit- Gal. 5-2
6. It is depending on self-effort to get right with God- Gal. 2:16
7. It implies crucifying the Son of God afresh; putting Him to open shame Heb.6:6.
8. It means to trample the Son of God under the feet- Heb. 10:29
9. It is counting the blood of Jesus as an unholy thing- Heb. 10:29
10. It means to scorn (disrespect) the salvation in Christ; to depend on works for salvation and being a debtor to the whole law - Gal.5:3
11. It also means to despise to the Spirit of grace- Heb. 10:29

Implications of Falling from Grace
Falling from grace implies the person is at the stage of not returning to Christ. It is indicated as:
1. Sinning against the Holy Ghost or doing despite to the spirit of grace Matt.12:31; Heb.10:29.
2. Speaking against the Holy Ghost. Such shall not be forgiven Matt.12:32
3. Sinning willfully; and there is no more sacrifice for sin- Heb. 10:26
4. Impossible stage to return to the faith again those who were once in the faith but fell from the grace- Heb.6:4-6.

CONCLUSION
Yes, believers MAY (not must) stumble at times but they should not continue in sin!!! They should repent quickly by seeking forgiveness and restoration through Jesus Christ. They should get up and continue their Christian race.
They should stay vigilant. being mindful of their thoughts, actions, and surroundings. By adopting the attitudes explained in this lesson, Christians can navigate the challenges of life, remain faithful to God, and experience the fullness of His grace and love to the end.
