🅿️ As students return, you may notice a bottleneck at the entrance to the parking lot, and you can't get into the parking lot or onto the street as quickly as you would like, especially during the 8:00am daily Mass.

God of fresh starts and new beginnings, we bring ourselves, our big feelings, and our backpacks to you. In our backpacks we carry blank pages, sharpened pencils, and pointy crayons, and in our hearts we carry big feelings, unanswered questions and hopeful
expectations.

There are endless possibilities of what this new year might bring - of what we might learn and who we will become. God our friend who is always with us, be with us through it all.

❓️ How does the priest choose the Mass readings for that day?

⛪ The priest does not choose. The readings are determined by a calendar set forth for the entire Church. Weekday readings are on a two year cycle; Sunday readings are on a three year cycle.

For Sunday, year A gospel readings are chosen mostly from Matthew, Year 2 from Mark, and Year 3 from Luke. Readings from the gospel of John are inserted throughout all three years.

No matter where you go to Mass throughout the world, you'll hear the same readings proclaimed, albeit in different languages and translations.

Known as the Revised Common Lectionary, it is used by Roman Catholics and most mainline Protestants. It grew out of the Second Vatican Council's (1962-1965) call for unity among Christians.
