“So you call yourself a minister… but I didn’t hear or see your preaching at church last week.”

To be a minister is to be a servant and to tend to the needs of someone aside from yourself. The greatest minister the world has seen is .

I took this photo while I was working, and very tired, to remind myself that I’m not a minister only when I’m in a church building. I’m a minister 100% of the time! Working with this organization at this location is a God given opportunity to minister to people. My brother and ministry partner James does the same. I saw him ministering by obeying the Lord and bringing a number of people to church today. I was greatly encouraged.

We need to show love, kindness, mercy and to do it in humility. (Micah 6:8)

“Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” (Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

As a Christian minister, you should never be surprised when you face trials, persecution and even personal attacks. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that life will be one long casual and easy journey. The spiritual journey as a Christian, and in particular a minister, is one full of persecution. I love that we have a declaration from the Lord that we are indeed BLESSED. He commands us to be GLAD as we have an expectation of such a great reward in heaven. If you are obedient to the call of God on your life you will experience the mountaintop but you will also experience the wilderness and valley. The wilderness is tough! The Lord promised in Psalm 23 that thou we walk through the valley that He is still with us providing our needs and guiding us through the storms.

I have noticed that my largest gains as a Christian and minister have resulted from my wilderness experiences. He refines us in the wilderness. He speaks to us in the wilderness. He strengthens us in the wilderness. Most importantly He draws us closer, reveals His kindness and sets us free to fulfill the mandate on our lives. Never complain when you are being led into, sometimes against your will, a desert or wilderness experience. If your Master, Jesus exited in power, so will you!

Spiritual gifts are great and help in the Christian life and ministry. They remain even in the light of someone that has turned against the Lord or has turned against sound biblical doctrine.

The Fruit of the Spirit is more important in that it reveals the heart. God looks at the heart.

You can prophesy, perform miracles, heal the sick, etc but if your heart is bereft of the Fruit of the Spirit, especially love, you may be surprised to know your final destination.
