Wiarton Salvation Army

Well, our latest group of Trades Start Culinary students have wrapped up their time in our kitchen (for now!) We are already missing their big smiles and the incredible aromas in the hallways. We look forward to seeing what they get up to next! For now, here's a few more of their delicious kitchen-creations to salivate over!

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." - Helen Keller 👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻👬👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻

Words cannot express the heartfelt gratitude we feel for the kind contribution of Community Foundation Grey Bruce. $13,075 was granted to the Bruce Peninsula Community Food Bank which will enable us to purchase a much-needed generator to protect the cherished food items that support our neighbors each month.

Thank you so much for sharing the load- we appreciate you!

How cool is this!?

Journey Through Play with special guest: Caley Patrick Doran

Join us on Monday, November 2nd, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Wiarton EarlyON location for a special Journey Through Play experience!

We are excited to welcome Caley Patrick Doran from the Anishinaabe Cultural Experience Interpretive Program. Caley will bring a fascinating collection of natural artifacts for children and families to explore. Curious minds will have the opportunity to learn about the natural world, including different kinds of animal s**t and what it can tell us about the creatures that share our environment.

We'll also enjoy a snack featuring a sampling of cedar tea, a warm and comforting drink that's perfect for the colder season ahead.

Come explore, discover, and learn through hands-on play and cultural experiences.

When: Monday, November 2 | 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Where: Wiarton EarlyON Centre
Who: Families with children from infancy to 6 years of age

Everyone is welcome!

How precious is this?! Our friends at Pizza Hut Wiarton blessed us with some delicious pizza to share at our Tri-Cord Connect Dinner Party last week. What a pleasure it was to gather together for a fun dress-up evening where we solved a tricky "who-dunnit" together. Good fun, good food, good friends!

Our Trades Start Culinary students have been creating some pretty amazing meals recently, including SUSHI! (Swipe to the end to see!) 🍣 What a special treat it has been to sample some of their delicious creations at lunch time, as well as to share their Culinary gifts with our community for Table Manna lunches. Well done, everyone!

💝 Empty Bowls: an opportunity for you to fill a bowl with delicious soup, and to fill the heart of your fellow neighbour with hope and security.

It delights us to announce that this year's Empty Bowls Peninsula fundraiser resulted in over $10,700 in funds raised to support the Bruce Peninsula Community Food Bank. INCREDIBLE!

Thank you to the incredible team of volunteers who made this event possible, to our sponsors, to the local culinary artists who provided soups, to the artisans who crafted bowls, and to each of you who purchased a ticket and voted for your favourite soup. And a very big thank you to Edward Matthews for his incredible photos of this fun evening!

Together, we can make a huge difference in the lives of our fellow community members ♡
