Celebrating The One Mediator, The Ransom for All
“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.” (1 Timothy 2:5–6, ESV)
Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man. He is the perfect bridge between the holy God and sinful people (Rom 3:23). We are reconciled to God through Him. When He entered our world, He experienced hunger, sorrow, temptation, and pain – yet without sin (Heb 4:15). Therefore, He understands us. As a sinless High Priest, He sympathizes with our weaknesses. So, when we pray, we are not speaking into the void – we are coming through One who knows exactly what it means to be human.
Jesus also “gave himself as a ransom for all.” A ransom is the price paid to set someone free. And this is what He did at the cross. He did not merely negotiate peace – He purchased it with His own life. The cost was not silver or gold, but His blood. The result is freedom from sin, guilt, and eternal separation.
This is what we celebrate on a Good Friday; this is why this day is “good.” So whatever you are facing today, Christ not only hears you – He understands you. Give it all to Him. And if you have Him in your life, eternal life is sure (John 3:16; 14:6). Thank Him today for this expression of hope and love. Receive Him now if you haven’t (John 1:12) – and this will make your Good Friday even better!
SAY THIS PRAYER: Our heavenly Father, thank You that there is one true Mediator – Jesus Christ, Your Son. Thank You that He understands me, represents me, and has paid the full price for my salvation. Help me to trust Him fully, live in the freedom He purchased, and share this good news with others. In His name, I pray, Amen.
