ENCOUNTERING CHRIST IN THE WORD
Homilies For Year A - Fr. László Nagy
Over the years, many of you have asked after Mass, in the parish office, and even in passing conversations: “Father, do you have your homilies written down somewhere?” or “Could
I have a copy to reflect on during the week?”
Those requests stayed with me. They became, in a quiet but persistent way, an encouragement, perhaps even a prompting,
to gather these reflections into something more lasting. What began as weekly preaching, shaped by prayer, Scripture, and
our shared parish journey, has now become a book. I am grateful to share with you Encountering Christ in the
Word, a collection of homilies for Year A. This is not simply a compilation of texts, but a record of a spiritual journey we
have walked together - listening to the Word of God, wrestling with it, and allowing it to speak into the realities of our lives.
As I wrote in the preface: These homilies were never meant to remain on a page. They were first spoken into a living
community, into real lives marked by faith, struggle, hope, and
grace. Each one is an invitation, not just to understand the
Gospel, but to encounter Christ personally in it.
The Word of God is not distant or abstract. It is living. It seeks
us, challenges us, comforts us, and ultimately transforms us.
My hope is that these reflections will help you return to the
Scriptures with a deeper openness, recognizing that Christ
continues to speak - here and now - into your life.
The minimalist design of the cover, simple, white, & marked
with gold, reflects the heart of the book itself: clarity,
reverence, and a focus on what truly matters - an encounter with Christ in His Word.
This book is offered especially for you, our parish family, who have listened, prayed, and grown together week after
week. It is my hope that it will serve as a companion in your personal prayer, a resource for reflection, and a reminder
that God continues to speak beyond Sunday.
Copies will be available soon. Thank you for your encouragement, your faith, and your openness to the Word of God.
