JCC Jewish Book Festival is coming to Har El!
Dr. Karine Rashkovsky / “An Improbable Life: My Father’s Escape from Soviet Russia”.
Sunday, February 23, 2 pm

An Improbable Life tells the story of a Reuven Rashkovsky, the author’s father, who has been at the centre of some of tumultuous events in modern history, from World War II to the Six-Day War to the collapse of the USSR, providing insight into the world of Soviet Jewry and the almost insurmountable obstacles to getting out.

Participation by Donation. Books will be available for sale and the author will be signing.

Movie Screening for Sukkot- "500 Days In The Wild"

Join us to celebrate Sukkot with the movie screening of the documentary "500 Days In The Wild", including a Q&A session with filmmaker and director Dianne Whelan!

"500 Days In The Wild," a documentary film that follows Whelan's 6-year journey on all 24,000 km of the land and water trails on the longest trail in the world. Weaving together a total experience of adventure, personal reflections, stunning wildlife, beautiful cinematography, and a great soundtrack, 500 Days in the Wild will entertain audiences and inspire hope for the future.

Meet the Squamish Nation
Sunday, Sept 29, 2-4 pm

With the Day of Truth and Reconciliation and the Jewish High Holiday around the corner, we are delighted to host Sheryl Rivers, an ambassador and consultant from Squamish Nation! Sheryl will teach us about Squamish Nation history as well as our building location and its own history, followed by a discussion and a dialog.

This event is a direct outcome of our recent Community Survey and Consultations, where our members expressed a desire to hold inter-cultural and inter-faith events. Come support this outstanding introductory event!
